Btw, what do CSK fans think about reports on MSD mulling over giving up captaincy? If so, is Jadeja, CSK's first pick, going to be the captain? :hmmm:

@velu

I’d give to Rutu and make him long term captain

but he doesn’t have aura of Jaddu

For impactful WK batsmen (or batsmen who can keep too), below a few options from the top of the mind recall:

Ind Tier 1

Kishan

DK

Ind Tier 2

Bharat

Saha

Uthappa

Int Tier 1

QdK

Bairstow

Wade

Carey

Pooran

Convey

Tim Siefert

Tom Blundell

Int Tier 2 (upcoming players)

McDermott

Rahmanullah Gubraz

Glenn Phillips

Tom Banton

Teams already with WK:

CSK - Dhoni

DC - Pant

L'now - KL

RR - Samson & Buttler

So quite a few options for the remaining franchises

Pace bowlers (2022 dynamics, kmph)

  • Express: 150+
  • Fast: 140-150
  • Fast medium: 130-140 (fast in the 80s and earlier decades due to the standard of protective equipment of the time)
  • Medium: 120-130

Selected Fast to Express bowlers available from the top of the mind recall:

Archer (if recovered)

Cummins

Ferguson

Rabada

Starc (though may not come this time too due to bio bubble fatigue)

Wood

Teams already with fast to express bowlers:

DC - Nortje

MI - Bumrah

SRH - Umran

Teams have to go hard for most of these guys

Talking about captains, only KKR appears to be actively looking for one. RCB may go with Kohli again (if he agrees to take command for this season), while PK is more interested in building a team first and has Agarwal as a potential candidate.

Below is a list of key targeted players:

  • Kishan -> we would see a battle b/w MI and PK. MI would be seeking to get Kishan back, while PK, which has the largest budget heading into the auction, would be seeking to replace KL with an Indian opener-WK
  • Warner -> KKR which needs both an opener (with Gill gone) and a captain. PK, if it loses on Kishan (also depends upon when the players show up in an auction so if Warner is before Kishan, we could see PK go all out for Warner). RCB likes to go for major batsmen and is also seeking to replace ABDV's experience
  • Rabada -> LSG wanted to get him as a draft therefore will not be surprised if it goes all out on Rabada. Other franchises would be targeting Rabada as well
  • Cummins -> We can see a battle play out for him among various franchises

Other potential target players:

  • Shami -> KKR (plays for Bengal) and LSG (UP connection and esp. if it misses out on Rabada)
  • Harshal -> CSK

Usually a franchise will feel good if it gets around 50% of its key target players in auction dynamics

:hmmm:

More potential targets:

  • Deepak & Rahul Chahar -> RR will attempt to get at least one of them if not both. Both play for Rajasthan in Ranji iirc

Meanwhile Dhoni has joined CSK to plan for the auctions, while LSG has appointed mentor Gambhir to lead the auctions ... Will be interesting if Dhoni and Gambhir bid on a player and their ego clashes (the player could laugh his way to the bank) :phehe:

I would have Holder on the list some where.
