Frustrated
He brings incredible consistency. The 'consistency' of getting out to a part time spinner in every match. Last time he played a ODI was the final game of the bilateral series against Eng in Mar 2021 at home. Once Dhawan and Rohit had set a nice platform, he came in and tuk tuked his way to a classic 7 off 18 balls before getting OUT to Liam Livingston, of all bowlers. He continues from where he had left. raki05, nevada and Vijy 3 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Not having to see the clown and his antics. Nothing can get closer to this. Short term pain of transition but long term gain (with Rahul or anyone else as a captain) nevada 1 Link to comment
Sandeep99
This is the same guy who didn't have a spot in the Indian team 1 year back. Now he's made the captain. The one positive I see is that one can become successful regardless of their previous failures and however talentless/useless they are. Every dog has its day... KL proved it and showed to all of us raki05, Frustrated, Banton and 2 others 1 4 Link to comment

afan
To me KL looks more like the Pretender than a Leader. Well, Kumble and Dravid will obviously like him. And Ganguly has a good bond with these guys. KL is not the right guy to lead, which will become very clear in times to come. The next 2 years seems to be a bit of a turmoil for Indian cricket This is what happens when there is no succession plan Dhoni to Kohli was one of the smoothest transition..And that was purely due to the bonding between 2 individuals The board has hardly played any role at all AuxiliA 1 Link to comment

Kohli OTOH has unfairly benched every young cricketer who debuted in his captaincy. Rahul, Pant, Siraj, Gill, the list is long. He has borrowed from the future to window dress the present and the negative effects of his short-sightedness are hurting Indian cricket big time. Kohli proposed KL for VC role in LOIs, but that was for removing rival Rohit. Quitting captaincy will only buy him a short time of goodwill. He has to produce runs or else bow out of the team altogether. AuxiliA 1 Link to comment

He shouldn't have been allowed to. There should be a 6-12 month limit for retiring from all formats of a player has retired from one. Quinton De Cock is just 28 and already retired from test cricket while hanging on in the more lucrative LOI format. How convenient? Upon a time players used to retire from tests to play an upcoming ODI world cup and then retire altogether. Today's smart cricketers want to have the cake and eat it too. Link to comment
