express bowling
2 hours ago, rollingstoned said: Problem is more fundamental i.e 1) We just don't take wickets with the new ball as evidenced by the stats since 2019 where our average is the worst of all teams who have played this format plus no good leggies unlike when we had Kulcha 2) Our seniors are playing 90s style cricket where 300 is an excellent score and you should focus on not losing wickets in the PP. We used to bat more aggressively and score more quickly in the 00s which is just inexcusable imo. Great points bro ! rollingstoned 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
All said and done chasing is an art. Not many is calculative enough to pull off chases while protecting the wicket. LOt more decision making comes into picture. When to attack when to rotate. Dhoni with the help of Yuvi/Raina started it. Kohli perfected it. Rohit is not a bad chaser either. It will be interesting to see who will take up the responsibility of chasing big totals once these 2 left. Edited January 20, 2022 by vvvslaxman Link to comment
Serpico
Why wasn't sky played btw? He was literally MOTS in last ODI series. If they want to fit in 6th bowling option, just bench pant and let rahul keep (or let pant open in Dhawans place) Link to comment

Different matter that neither Dhawan and Kohli should have been playing. But now that they will play all 3 ODIs, Dhawan obviously cannot play anywhere else so blocks the opener slot, it's better to push Kohli down to 5-6 in a finisher role but then that will never happen Link to comment
Adamant
The mental patient was questioning why Kohli didn't want to play under Rohit (when reports about him skipping the series were there) and now that he is playing he wants to see a youngster there. Absolute lack of a working brain. Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Kohli's paid PR still pimping for him...tch tch. Hope these pitiable jokers soon find some other sources of income for their sustenance Vijy 1 Link to comment
Vijy
forget chasing days, even setting a target is proving to be hard for this decrepit, listless "team" Link to comment
putrevus
Kohli and Dhoni were two lynch pins when they won during those chases.Kohli's batting has gone to dogs, I don't think he has anything left in him. This team needs new batting talent not this moronic Pandya type overhyped players. They need legitmate batting talents. This is the right time to rebuild this team, when they are losing with experienced players, you might as well lose with new youngsters. They will gain experience. Why is Bumrah playing in these matches again. Shaw will be always hit and miss.I don't think he ever will be consistent.Gill is looking more like 1990s odi player than 2020 player.Does he have ability to play with 100 plus SR on regular basis, his huge back lift will always be a problem. But no harm is trying him. This team needs complete overhaul. For that to happen they need to have an identity, what exactly are they want their strength to be is yet to be determined.England did that but you need a strong captain/coach for that to happen. putrevus
People including Kohli's himself took his chasing power for granted. What he did during chases is not easy to replicate. Link to comment

Vijy
today was one more example of how to bottle a chase. none of top 6 scored big at high SR and then the tail couldn't chase 10 runs in 3 overs with 3 wkts left. rollingstoned and Banton 1 1 Link to comment

Typically happens in teams with divided dressing rooms and where the communication channels are broken. Expect this to get worse once Rohit comes back. Kohli-Iyer partnership - there was hardly any discussion between the two KL Rahul sitting and laughing on the team balcony with Kohli and Dhawan was a clue of what is happening in the team. May be reading too much but the team environment isn't looking healthy at all. Vijy 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Can we chase this one? So far we have failed against Australia/NZ/England in the last 3 years. Only chase we won were against Windies/Srilanka. Edited July 14, 2022 by vvvslaxman Link to comment
vvvslaxman
India was a gun chasing team with Dhoni/Yuvi and later Kohli took it to next level. once Kohli's form declined our chasing ability has taken a dip. It might get worse if India don't phase out oldies. Link to comment

Adamant
Need Kohli back, these bunch of "young" duds can't chase 240s. I remember Dhoni and Jadhav chasing 240s in bilaterals. Link to comment
