Impressions about Ishan Kishen

Recommended Posts

Let the young players be. Some will adapt to international cricket very quickly, some others take time. Kishan has played total 11 international innings so far, has looked very good in 4 of those. In between he went to SA for the A tour, batted beautifully there.

Good that the TM is backing him. Expect him to convert one of those nervous starts very soon.

Even Samson hasn't had a proper run, he will come good as well.

@Ankit_sharma03, are you sure about Shaw wasting starts. What we saw in Sri Lanka was just three matches. He has an entire season of Vijay Hazare scoring hundreds for fun. He got like one 150 and and double as well.

thats his ODI career till now, TBH most young cricketers go through this and reason is at international good bowlers keep coming one after another

As I said just, one series. I am ignoring the NZ series when he was just 20. Sample size is jsut too small to prove anything. He played better in last IPL. He can only only so much without international exposure.

again in IPL u dnt get one quality bowler after another, i agree he ll get better but as of now even he has many areas of concern

Good T20 player but don't rate him in other formats.

For me, the priority is Tests > ODIs > T20s.

Hence, Kishan or Samson just not belong to that league.

After Kohli and Rohit, you have KL and Pant. Aside of that, who else is our all format batters? I would say Mayank and Shreyas.

none are truly all-format now. Ro and Ko are a bit too tuk-tuk for T20. KL has not yet mastered Tests. Pant is the closest at the moment.

Most young players have conversion issues but thats not the concern , the concern with ishaan is his limitations. Pant is also inconsistent but isnt a limited batsman infact he has no obvious weakness.

30-40s scored at quick rate in t20s is fine but with his limitation even those will come at a very inconsistent rate which is why he has had just 1 or 1 n half good IPL season till date. Players shud be judged for long term basis, coz good teams will test ur limitations. Tomm he can score against lanka coz they dont have much challenge left in their attack now but in long terms good teams will exploit it .

Srilankan bowling is pretty good. They did very well in Australia. Just that their batting sucked.

Thank you for a sane post. Just because he is out of touch at the moment fans have started ridiculing him already. Ishan Kishan is a maverick, just kind of player T20 cricket demands.

Coming into all the technical stuff @Ankit_sharma03 has pointed out, he is still young & improving. I ll disagree about spinners part, he is quality spin basher whether it's coming in or going away, you ll see that in upcoming matches.

he has s/r of

Against off spin -

67 in international

99 in non international t20

against SLA

70 in international

129 in IPL

Clear struggle , he has only bashed leggies in which Someone like Tahir not at his peak has troubled him a lot. Noticed if you bowl fast n flat to him he has issues, but if u flight in air then only he hits ...t20 will be fast n flat mostly like chase did

He's a 22 year old FFS. He'll have some issues in his batting, like most young players at his age especially for a keeper playing as a specialist batsman . if he was so poor, he wouldn't survive the A cricket circuit, forget surviving in the IPL.

Also, if despite all these issues he's scoring at 29 and SR of 137 in IPL (better than our T20 superstars), it only shows how strong he's in other areas.

He has issues yes , everyone has issues - ohh yes

 Is he good -yes

Is he a player for future - ofcourse he is

But nothing of that is discussed above. Nothing

We are clearly discussing how many issues he has and clearly he has many. Player have issue but once have many then its a problem specially if u talk about replacing them with big players  n making them as permanent.

In ipl he has had just one n half good season so IPL logic shudnt be even given.

Point isnt issue but many issues . Thats why he isnt permanent .

Sorry, go back to your OP and look at your own smileys. The intention clearly is to mock a young player by cherry picking stats. I'm countering that. You're free to disagree and continue to mock him.

I see that you've covered your tracks by saying SL is a weak side.
