Serpico
I wouldn't play pant at 4, given his unpredictable nature. But pant at 6 offers excellent value, whereas babar needs to step up to justify no.4. If he still averages early 40s after next 2-3 years, he'll be considered a flop Link to comment

Pak's best test batter as of now should play at no. 4 - Fawad Alam. Link to comment
Serpico
Pant enters top 10. Hope he scores a big century next match and move upwards. Should be our top rated batsman by this time next year Link to comment

Adamant
Virat is still ranked number 5 in test cricket and the highest ranked Indian batsman. Lol at the other batsmen, can't even take over Kohli in his worst days. sachintrufan 1 Link to comment
Majestic
That tells more about the Indian batting lineup to be fair. Guys like Rohit and Rahul are injured half of the times and Pujara and Rahane have vacated their spots only now. SRT100 and sachintrufan 2 Link to comment

That's because Kohli, Pujara and Rahane are the only test batsmen that have played nearly all Indian tests in the last 3-4 years. Rankings drop considerably if a player misses a series. Jadeja would have broken into the top 10 if he hadn't missed so many matches. sachintrufan, SRT100 and Cricspin 2 1 Link to comment
Jay
Valiant varoot kolee at number. What a champion he is. He will regain form this year and become the best again. He is destined to be number 1. Only issue is He has to wake up eventually sachintrufan 1 Link to comment

Similarly Sharma who is supposedly in his best form as a test opener is still behind Kohli? What kind of a peak is this? As for Rahul, he is not consistent enough to get into top 5, there's very less chance of him ever entering top 7 let alone top 5. sachintrufan and Vijy 1 1 Link to comment

I would be very surprised to see KLR break into top 5 and more importantly stay there for a while: his biggest issue is inconsistency Adamant and sachintrufan 1 1 Link to comment

That's why you see someone like Babar Azam still hanging in the top10 despite being below par. Jadeja has better test batting performances than BA (& even our trimurti) over the last few years but cannot break into the top10 due to missing multiple series.
