That's assuming everyone else stays in form which may not happen. I am sure Miller - Tewatia will return to normalcy. Roy, although good, is no Warner.

Miller is a very good player. He will continue to do well unless something drastic happens. Tewatia is the more uncertain one.

Roy does not need to be Warner. Warner + GT would be too fearsome.

Neither Shami nor Joseph are great bowlers, Dayal may be found out, looked poor in last few matches. Saha is useless. Tewatia, who knows. Miller will be 33, Kohli's zone :nervous:

They surely cannot have the same formula, oppositions will be more ready for it.

I saw some of these players like the following players from ODI WCs:

Saha -> Kalu

Gill -> Hayden

SDP -> S Waugh

Miller -> Klusener

Tewatia -> Bevan

Dayal -> Zaheer

So far GT appears to be playing within itself … Didn’t know Shami is unavailable.

Moving forward, GT may need to try someone like Wade, and pick, depending on form,  2 from Saha, Sudarshan, Shankar, & SRK.

Below is how GT can form its line up for the next few games (not accounting for impact player who can come in per the situation):

Ind

Gill

Tewatia

Kishore

Tyagi

Mohit

2 from Saha, Sudarshan, Abhinav, Shankar, & SRK

OS

Miller

Wade (or KW if in good form)

Rashid

Bowler - Noor or Little or Johnson

There were clear issues in batting lineup. But they kept trusting their luck.

What is this Sudharshan, Saha, Vijay Shankar :facepalm:

These guys don't even give enough strike to Gill when he is going well. All they do is hog strike and wait for bad balls.

Even with impact player rule, they don't have seven batsmen.

Even you build a team around an opener who has optimal strike rotation in middle overs, you have to accompany him with good runners and good hitters. All they have is one length hitters, most have trouble against high pace outside powerplay, Sudarshan even in powerplay.

David Miller papered over a lot of cracks. They don't have replacements for Miller and Pandya. Pandya may not be in prime-form all the time but he did lend solidity to the batting lineup allowing likes of Miller to come in and flog the bowling. Now likes of Tewatia are batting one spot higher. And yeah they've too many consolidators in Saha, Sai Sudarshan and Vijay Shankar. They need more aggressive batsmen. Keep Sai as the lone consolidator and find replacements for Vijay Shankar and Saha. Also,Gill himself is not a player like Jaiswal or Abhishek who can score quickly. He's more like Kohli and the top order consisting of Saha, Gill, Sai, Vijay Shankar simply doesn't have any X-factor or game-changers.

After two back to back great seasons, a team is allowed to have an ok season (players injured like Shami, Miller not available for a few games, etc.). However, there is overconfidence and complacency, leading to some poor selection/tactic.

With 6 games still to go, if GT picks up its game, it can sneak into the playoff, where it becomes super dangerous.

Would prefer an 11 such as below:

Wade or Saha

Gill

Sudarshan (needs to up his SR)

Miller

Tewatia

SRK or Abhinav (need to step up) or Wade

Rashid

Noor

Mohit

Mishra

Tyagi

Impact

Sai Kishore or Little/Johnson

Wade Miller Rashid Noor should be an ideal combo.

Wade at the top can give the impetus to the inns...he can play at a brisk pace.
