Most of these domestic players are their last minute pick to complete their minimum squad. Picked at base price. What his domestic stats were didn't even matter

True that many of them are filler picks.

Also stats are usually used to determine form of players. Upcoming players (for long term plans) are usually chosen based on potential, after observing them play. If they have good numbers, it helps but not be all.

Last minute domestic picks are a lottery for players. Whoever comes at that time and a bit of luck gets picked.

Problem with MI was after 48 cr went in four detentions, they spent 31 cr on three players Kishan, David and Archer. Total 79 cr on 7 players. They had just 11 cr left to complete the team to pick minimum 13 players. You can understand the options they had. They lost it in auction itself.

Still among the unsold players they could have picked someone else. Shamsi 1 crore base price. Went unsold. Also Adam Zampa 2 crore base price went unsold.

You can't pick players randomly. You have to pick certain minimum number of Indian and overseas players. You have to follow the rules. Minimum squad size is 20 and you can only play four overseas, so, picking overseas players would have been useless if you couldn't pick minimum number of Indian players. You have to have injury and covid backup too. They had just 11 cr to pick 13 minimum players. They didn't have luxury to put 2 Cr for Zampa. They also picked Brevis for 3 cr. So there you go 8 cr left for 12 minimum players.

Auction was very un-Mumbai lke. They make some shrewd buys but anyone could have said they messedup by betting big  and risky on one or 2 players. Cursory look at lineup by tells you how underwhelming their squad looks with over the hill players like Pollard.

What's the break up? I thought it was only Rohit and Kishan that were expensive..

Rohit 16, Kishan 15.25, Bumrah 12, Sky 8, Pollard 6, Archer 8, David 8.25, Brevis 3, Sams 2.60.  it's turns out to be 79.10 cr for 9 players. Not 82. Still messed it up. It meant they had no depth. Due to this they picked 10 random players for just 3 cr to even put a team on the field.

So they got 9 out of 11 starters, that's excellent. Not everyone in the team needs to be special or a big name. For rest of money they bought good players in Shokeen, Allen, Markande. Their only mistake was thinking Unadkat and Thampi will improve.

You have to count for bad form and injuries too. They had no depth. They spent 8 cr too many for Kishan. Absence of Archer.

Since a proud franchise. Ending up last. Absolute shame. People blame MI of fixing or buying umpires. No proud owner who fixes matches will allow this situation.

I literally hate that constipated face of Mahela. His experiments has utterly screwed up the team this season. The whole season he’s used to juggle around and test various combinations. The whole Team Management (Robin, Zahir etc including Mahela) should be FIRED. Most lethargic TM, never been proactive to send crucial messages to the players on the field. Even in yesterdays match all they needed was to send somebody to calm Tim David down to stop him taking dangerous singles. Most of the time I’ve seen Mahela , Robin, Zak etc slumped on their seats, uninterested awaiting losses after loss.

The MoFos are so full of themselves that they’d declined to come on TV during the match. I’ve always seen the opposition team coaches talking to commentators during the match but not these MoFos.

In the last few matches Chin-Chin to is missing as he might’ve sone self respect remaining or maybe pi$$ed off for Arjun not being given a chance to play by that old stinky Srilankan Fart.

MI is not going to be the same for a while given that their long serving match winners are on the decline. Malinga's absence was fulfilled by Bumrah. Pollard, Pandya, SKY when in form looked good. Only SKY is doing okay. The day his performance also drops MI will be in deeper trouble.

Robin, Zaheer and Mahela were there when we won the IPL in 2020. Is this just their fault?

We just have no batting.

RoSha

Ishaan

Pollard are duds.

SKY is injured.

We left out Brevis and David for some strange reasons.

We need to drop the three players I've bolded.

Ishaan can be a substitute. RoSha and Pollard must be given a proper respectable send off for their years of contribution to :mi: .
