Now he wants to end soilders' pensions, this is what happens when you elect a dumb third-class businessman as Prime Minister.

Do you know how much we pay in pensions?

Especially after orop? Only aaptards think everything in life comes free. I guess the money flows from Kejriwal s orifices

Way for the "youth" to show they are army material. Burning public property. The right stuff!

As if anyone is drafting them forcefully. If they don't like this plan they can find another job that suits them that gives more than 30k a month for 4 yrs.

This issue with BJP is...Election winning formula they already have mastered ( Hindu/Muslim Danga fasad ) but successfully implementing laws during their regime is a different ball game, no wonder they have to do U-Turn due to embarrassment for implementing new laws without having any grasp of the public opinion first or how it is going to affect the masses.

Not everyone can be like the Aaptards. Promise freebies and do nothing

Btw I heard Punjab is mafia free now and drug free. Congratulations!

For those in the cow-belt a military career is one of very few futures available to them that can guarantee them a positive outcome.

The deal that the military offers is in exchange for giving 20 years of their youth, they and their family will be taken care of financially (Salary, Gratuity, Pension) and receive many umbrella benefits (Canteen, Healthcare, Travel). Their lives are filled with immediate family members, neighbours, friends who have found financial security and peace of mind by grinding out a couple of decades in the military.

In the farming communities of the Gangetic plains,  a year of bad rains can wipe a family out and a few consecutive years of drought can finish a village. A son or brother in the military is a hedge against annihilation for any family.

Over here, "Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisaan" sounds more like a fact than a motto.

These recruits join with no professional ambitions. They are more than happy to just run the calendar out for 20 years doing whatever is asked of them in exchange for all this. These are bodies that have worked farmland since they stood up straight. Waking up early, hard physical exercise and a spartan diet is exactly what life would look like if they were sitting at home for twenty years. They sail through the basic training as if it's nothing, the very 9 months that most starry-eyed "bench school-wale" perceive as a life-changing experience. And post-training will do whatever jobs they are allotted to without a whimper.

The two decades that they give the military is the investment they are making in their futures. Once in the army, someone will give him their daughter in marriage, they can have children, give them a good education and ensure a secure future. This is a complete life-plan. One that has been successfully replicated for generations all around them.

For such people, the Agnipath scheme holds no appeal. The new scheme will have to attract a new demographic for whom the perks of the scheme are worthwhile.

Instead of some working for 19 years in non-combat roles, polishing shoes, getting groceries, driving vehicles of officers, colonels and earning pension, they get better prospects outside. They get up to 15 lakhs as severance, which 24 year old has 12-15 lakh savings.  Most of jawans don’t get to fight in the field, it is an elite force with special training and they get into regiments. The 80% of lower ranks end up in support roles. Also, due to huge existing personnel (15 lakhs) , recruitment was stopped for last two years. Now at least some get recruited and 25% for life as well.

They always have the option of premature retirement. when force it by this stupid scheme.

like khalistanis and middlemen when it came to farmers protest. For every such person on the street there will be 10 who are protesting from homes. how is their protest being heard?  What is the objective of this scheme. why is this government so poor in communication?

I guess there is no objectivity left anymore.. Usual suspects for and against BJP are running amok with their narratives.
whatever the govt brings in the opposition will resort to violence instead of debates.. this is not a good sign.. we are regressing as a country.. sad to see..

for a minute give importance to the thought that this is a protest by the applicants and not by the opposition. It does not seem an issue till it hits you. Its like saying Civil services exam will only recruit for 4 years. Then you are on your own. ok with the abrupt change?

We are very different from west. Ours is a family based society where men give up aspiration, passion just to ensure great future for the family. They need a permanent job to meet all these obligations.

Schemes like agneepath are not suitable at all. Either tell them that they are not fit for job and they will find some other Avenue. This 4 year circus will lead to nothing.
