I am glad England is in gun form. We can consolve ourselves saying "We lost to a better side" lol

NZ bowling is completely dependent on conditions. I would think if it was Indian bowlers defending those two scores, they would have won both tests.NZ was extremely lucky to win that ICC test championsship.

It was more poor NZ bowling than great England batting in both tests.

Jadeja is a better batter than Iyer in challenging conditions. His bowling is just an added bonus. He's one of our MVPs in SENA tests. No point in playing an extra "specialist batter" just for the sake of it.

He Just will need to avoid blind ghumao shots like he did in the WTC final in the second innings causing India to collapse

We will compensate by poor batting. Last time Bumrah/Shami/Thakur saved us with bat.  Besides they are having Stokes back. Root free of captaincy. By the way his captaincy was atrocious in the first test against us. They indulged in bouncer barrage against Shami/Bumrah and lost the plot. Sure their bowling is toothless on flat tracks. But our batting is toothless on any track right now.

Average in SENA? Or leave it, anyways Jadeja can pick wickets in 4th inning and now we have Vihari also to bowl off spin. Would Vihari off spin do it? But Jadeja is a left hander also.

SENA average 30, 4 50s,

bowling average 22, 53 wkts, 2 5fers.
no issues for selecting, utility alone. Fielding, he is a facking rockstar

They are stronger and will be more confident. One off test can go anyway.

are you talking about Pant?

Memory fails. I know about Pants going for glory, I thought even Jadeja also went for a andha shot

Wagner to Jadeja, OUT

Got him! Kept banging it in short, kept having him swaying or ducking. Finally angles one away, this one doesn't bounce as high so Jadeja thinks maybe here's a chance to tap into into the off side for a single but ends up nicking it to Watling. Wagner deserves that.

Ravindra Jadeja c †Watling b Wagner 16 (60m 49b 2x4 0x6) SR: 32.65

sab gunah maaf. But Pant went for glory like always.

W
Boult to Pant, OUT

Outstanding catch by Nicholls running back from point! Pant's bizarre innings comes to an end. He steps out to whack this to London (over mid-on) but ends up slicing it as the bat face turns. Nicholls calls for it loud and clear and runs back, steadies himself, then takes a couple of steps back again, and hangs on as it descends. Thought I heard someone from the stands yelp something on the lines of 'drop! drop!' and Nicholls looks in that direction and signals 'I've taken it'. Big moment in the match.

Rishabh Pant c Nicholls b Boult 41 (149m 88b 4x4 0x6) SR: 46.59

India will go in favourites and should with the team we have, vihari has been solid enough at three, kl and Rohit will get match practice and by now should be familiar with the conditions, it's going to be warm for the next few days and then from Saturday onwards a lot cooler and some showers in between, by next week Wednesday it's gonna be around 21°c for six/seven days on a trot, Northamps and Warwickshire both hit nearly 600 each in a draw few backs back, pitch will be a good batting track, we can't let Potts, washed up broad, overton and co bully us, no way they have no where near the level of bumrah, shami, prasidh, Siraj and thakur.

KL is ruled out

Exceptions always there. In NZ and Eng we usually lose early on

I hope it is different.Still I find it incredibly stupid to carry over from last series. I have no idea how BCCI morons agreed to this nonsense in the first place.

They pulled out. So they had no choice. Other option was to concede the Test.

England and Australia have pulled out of series lot of times even though their reasons might have been different. They  should have  added an extra test for next tour to compensate TV broadcasters.

Not really

2014 England tour we drew first match then won the second test

in 2018 yes we lost the first test

in 2021

we drew first match

won second

so last 8 years we have actually done well in the first few matches in England

There were severe financial implications due to that last minute cancellation. So few options were given. India chose this.

It was absolutely retarded to pull out last year. Eng were down and out and there for the taking.

Now they are reinvigorated under a new captain and coach with fresh ideas and tactics.

Ind in contrast are stale, lacking any form and have a very conservative coach.

All signs point to this not ending well.

If Bumrah and Shami are fit and firing then we have a great chance of winning this test.

England batting lacks quality apart from Root and Stokes.

And their bowling is dependant primarily on Anderson who will be tired after this series vs NZ.

We have to keep in mind these weaknesses and be very confident.

Team selection will go a long way to determine the winner for this game.

I would be interested in your team and also @Vijy team here.

Here is mine:

Rohit
Gill

Pujara
Kohli
Iyer

Pant

Jaddu/Ash
Thakur/Ash
Bumrah

Shami
Siraj

India desperately need one of the top order to anchor the innings and score 100+ so the team can build a total around them.

Gill/Iyer can do this.

Unfortunately Kohli will play for us is the assumption.

Kohli and Bumrah/Shami/Siraj the wickets. Mind you I have more confidence of Bumrah and Shami outscoring Kohli.

Ash plays dependent on wicket and availability of Jaddu.

Jaddu and Thakur is almost the equivalent of a batsman here.

4 pace bowlers and spinner is the key.
