ravishingravi Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Still think he is really suspect technique. Maybe mentality monster. Deserves a chance for sure.
Lord Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Always believed in the guy. Hopefully gets consistent chances now

The guy has performed at every level when given the chance including test matches ( 3 50s and a 150 in just 4 test matches). Hard to do that with a suspect technique. The real test will be abroad but I wouldn't put it past him to adapt especially if batting lower in the order. Similar to Rishabh Pant, his technique looks different to the "classical" players but he is very effective. His technique is not that different from players like Miandad . He is from a generation of young and hungry players who think like streetfighters and don't take their places for granted. Need more of these in the team and less models and influencers. Deserves a chance for sure. "Looking" like the right technique and "having" the right technique are two different things. Yes, Sarfaraz doesn't look like he has a good technique, but what counts are results. Similarly, Steve Smith and Chanderpaul would never have pleased technique purists but were mighty effective. On the other hand you have Kela, who "looks" to have the right technique but results are a disaster. vvvslaxman, Manucrick, tweaker and 7 others 1 9

You clearly never saw Chanderpaul, who didnt take a leg stump/offstump/middle stump guard but took a fwd short leg guard and preferred showing his gonads to the bowlers like a football player in a free-kick wall. Ultimate_Game Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 2 hours ago, Lord said: this guy can play in ODIs too, very good vs spin Yes, would be a decent ODI player but isn't cut out to be a T20 player. Unfortunately our selectors can't differentiate across formats. They can't comprehend that a player can be good in ODIs but poor in T20s or vice versa. That's why we get moronic selections like Jadeja & Siraj in all formats or SKY and now Gill being forced in all the formats. They don't understand that different formats require different skills and very few players can be good in all formats. Currently we only have Jaiswal and Bumrah who deserve to play in all the formats. Rest of the players are good at one or at most two formats. Lord and BacktoCricaddict 1 1

Riyan Parag is another such cricketer.Plays for a weak team like Assam and fight back alone with great aggressive game with both bat ,ball and field. Would be great if we have middle order of Sarfaraz,Pant and Parag
tweaker Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 In most probability Sarfaraz will be dropped to accommodate Rahul as team management is hell bent on supporting him.

I really hope that does not happen. Let them drop Kohli if they are so hell bent on keeping KL Rahul.

Yes, Rahul is the best discovery since sliced bread. He deserves a long rope. Rope should be so long that it should circle the globe 1000 times. His performances don't matter. His mental ability or disability to handle pressure also doesn't matter. He has Potential. He deserves a chance ahead of anyone in the team. Period.
