tweaker Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 Sarfaraz would have been ideal at no 5 ,in this types of pitches. He deserved the spot above Sai and Karun Number, Ultimate_Game, The Hound and 2 others 5
tweaker Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Sarfaraz is nursing a quadriceps injury he picked up during the Buchi Babu tournament. The setback has also ruled him out of the ongoing Duleep Trophy.
crictime Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 He is too fat for his age and for a sportsman. Dropped few kilos but still not up there. One person met him and told him to reduce weight. The good thing was he atleast acknowledged he is below par in fitness and needs to work. But injury is another concern for him. He also needs to show that he can score at international to and not just be a domestic scorer.

tweaker Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 Sarfaraz hot selected for A team against South Afrika. The reason given by the selection commitee is Rishabh will play at no 5 ,so there is no place for Sarfaraz, who play at no 5. I don't think this is the reason and Sarfaraz should have been part of the squad. What is the need of selecting team India players ie Rahul,Siraj,Jurel in the A team and robbing opportunities of young players
putrevus Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 (edited) Ganguly made his debut at number 3 and played in all middle order slots mostly settling at number 5. Dravid started at number 6 but became number 3.VVS started as opener then played in middle order. Sarfraz can play at number 3, this nonsense that guy like Sai is better than Sarfraz at number 3 is ridiculous. Give the guy a chance to fail.He has double FC avg than Sai and still is not getting his chance. Guy like KL Rahul kept getting chance after chance in all formats. He batted at number 3 and he was also made wicket keeper. Edited October 22, 2025 by putrevus tweaker 1

What is the need of selecting team India players ie Rahul,Siraj,Jurel in the A team and robbing opportunities of young players Selectors don't address the media after A team selection. What you are referring to is the speculations in the media. Does have some merits from a Team India perspective. Gill, Pant, Jadeja are fixed at number 4-6, 7-8 will be toss up between NKR, Sundar and Axar. Yashaswi and Rahul have the opening slot locked in. Only space is fjr a reserve opener and number 3. Sai and Paddikal are the ones being given chances for that On why India players in A team, simple answer is to give them some FC cricket before a crucial test series. Earlier many India players used to play practice ganes vs visiting teams, now that doesn't happen. So giving FC game time to some main squad players isn't a bad idea. There are enough A team opportunities for others to stake a claim like Sai and Paddikal did vs Aus A or Jurel has done in multiple such chances. I do feel some of the bowlers named for the second game will be withdrawn , that's why they have named Gurnoor, Khaleel, Siraj, Prasidh and Akashdeep. Brar and Khaleel will be asked to rejoin their Ranji teams, likely Siraj will be rested too unless he wants some overs before the SA tests. tweaker 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 As for Sarfaraz, he is coming back after a major injury scare post massive weight loss. Suffered a quadricep injury in the first professional match he was playing after weight loss (Buchi Babu Tournament in July). Needed two months of rest and recovery. Has played one Ranji match. Let him play another couple of Ranji rounds to see how his body is responding to new structure before being thrust into higher intensity situations like India A series. If he gets the quadriceps tendon tear again, it will likely require surgery, could rule him out for another 4-5 months or longer. Hardik suffered the same injury in Asia Cup and is out of action for two months as of now.

NameGoesHere Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 (edited) After memorably having called out Rohit on his weight a while ago, Shama Mohammed from INC goes gangbusters again: https://www.indiatvnews.com/sports/cricket/not-selected-due-to-his-surname-congress-shama-mohamed-slams-gautam-gambhir-over-sarfaraz-khan-snub-2025-10-22-1013881 Did it in a good cause IMO, but where she goes over the top to do her own politics is: <PARA>… questioned India head coach Gautam Gambhir on the matter asking if Sarfaraz has been dropped due to his surname </PARA> FWIW I know Shama, a bit. She’s good people, totally not the rabid fundoo some people may be thinking. Edited October 22, 2025 by NameGoesHere
ShoonyaSifar Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 So on cue now politicians have jumped in and called his exclusion as being due to his religion. Some guy said he will raise it in the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Sports. Well that for most part will be Sarfaraz's career almost done. For no fault of his. Engagement hungry cricket accounts on Twitter made it mainstream without an understanding of his current fitness level and now this religious card being publicly talked about will only harm Sarfaraz's case. Politicians jumping in supporting cricketers for non-cricketing reasons has always ended harming players in Indian cricket be it Somnath Chatterjee talking about Ganguly being dropped back in 2005 or Shashi Tharoor's public backing of Sanju Samson for the last 6-7 years each time he was not picked. He should be focussing on being top scorer in Ranji and proving his fitness by playing all Ranji matches this season. This off field drama won't help him prove his fitness and form post recovery from injury.

tapandrun Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 Do not think he can go anywhere now, he has been scoring heavily in domestic circuit , what else can he do score 200 each game in domestic?? There is no IPl team backing him, think Ashwin also said something on similar lines in one of his yt videos. BacktoCricaddict 1
crictime Posted October 25, 2025 Posted October 25, 2025 Mumbai are 3 down, yet Sarfaraz khan is not at crease. Is he injured again? Himanshu Singh is batting ahead of him.
