SC has taken one more step to establishing Hindu Rashtra. More the disgruntled and disillusioned the Hindus, greater is possibility for Hindu consolidation.

What is required is a small spark.

If anything happens to Nupur, it's all done.

The lady placed at the center of this - somehow skipping the other fellow in the debate - is going to have to wait a while before she can walk in public. she is basically in exile while also being trapped in her own country.

It's also worth noting that she was part of a long-running orchestrated political action undertaken by the party in power in which not only party spokespersons but also news media personalities regularly contributed. She did not wake up one morning and decide to go on a lone crusade against Islam. The political action however was not backed by political will and crumbled upon encountering the slightest resistance (Qatar) and now the stage is emptied leaving Nupur Sharma holding the ball. It was bad enough being expelled by her party and then scapegoated by extremist momins, then to find out a poor fellow 500 kms away was hacked to death for just supporting her online (a tragic co-incidence that the man killed for standing up for her was named Kanhaiya), and now being asked by the Supreme Court to apologise to the Nation? It's as though being hacked in broad daylight is one of those unavoidable hazards of daily life and people should take personal responsibility to ensure that one's words don't result in someone else being ritually beheaded.

at most her crime was presenting blasé criticisms of a religious text and religious figure in a misplaced arena. If there is a symposium on "Criticisms and Reforms for Islam in the Modern World" and she were to discuss those issues with scholarly study who could find fault with her? Another faux pas, if one's being nit-picky was also in using it as a way to score a point over her adversary. Imagine a world summit on Environment Protection and an Indian scientist is told to shut up about water conservation because Indians wash their butts with water. The fact that it's true doesn't take away from the fact that it's also an unfair point to bring up during a discussion. And both sides were guilty of being nonchalant about the other's belief system. It was just a belligerently conducted debate like every other news channel during prime time.

I suppose the other fellow escaped because hindus just don't believe anybody bad mouthing their religion makes a whit of a difference to them or their gods!

Legislature can impeach with a 2/3rds majority

That's termination & requirement is as big as a constitutional change. What about non-extreme measures ? The way bills don't pass without majority, what's the day to day balancer ?

Usually appeals to higher courts and PILs in SC. There is a PIL on the remarks by Justice Kant about on Nupur to make him withdraw. You know where it will end up .. in the dust bin

Stupid Hindus, life is unfair, accept it and move on. The SC and the judges are just the symptoms. The problem is elsewhere, and that has to be only focus. Let's not distract ourselves

The religious extremism can be tackled by combination of awareness and deterrence. Awareness must come with constant reinforcement of present dangers, past crimes. And deterrence is all about strong law & order both in paper and on ground, Obviously, reforming and modernizing police and judiciary plays a key part.

Literature, scholars are the important tools in modern times, as we ought to understand and question other side from our viewpoint. Avoid the taboos, yet keep questioning about the other side. T
