I knew this would happen beforehand btw.

And our ODI line up is weaker than all top 5 teams. It puts too much pressure on Pandya to hit big/finish everytime. All good teams will have 2-3 hitters from 5 to 7 who can manage a s/r of 115 throughout the innings. We will have only Pandya for that role. It will put him under extra pressure.

The only ready made solution not visible to blind selectors and due to ego of kohlis is this kohli opens :

kohli

rohit

sky

iyer

pandya

rahul/ pant

Jadeja/ axar

Hyping him when he does something and dismissing him when fail is ridiculous.

He will be just fine at number4  give him time.He will not be facing Starc at his best  everyday either.

He averages 10 with SR of 100 against Pak after having played 5 t20 matches against them.   Does Pak also hv a Starc?

He may regress in T20 as well if they continue this experiment. It is not outlandish to think of using his form.  But We have seen enough now. He is not making use of his opportunities. He is no  Harry Brook who does this in all formats.

That is ridiculous conclusion. He will be just fine in odis too.Let him breathe and get some runs under his belt.

In short, he is a fraud who might do well only in bilateral t20s against opponents who usually dont field their best playing 11 as they want to experiment.  That's why performamce in bilaterals hardly counts.

Have you c hecked his scores in the last 15 games

15 matches 166 runs 13.83 avge  0 fifties.  7 single digit scores.

So what, he has taken sometime, How many matches and positions did Rohit play before he found his game in whiteball cricket.

A guy like SKY needs one confident innings, he will be just fine.

What is your point? Pakistan have Afridi.

I don't recall Afridi getting him out even once as he has hardly faced afridi.  He failed against every other bowler in Pak line up in all those 5 games.  My point is very simple.  He fails against every half decent bowler in icc tournaments against top ranked teams.   And that trend won't change either.  He is already a buddha. Soon gonna be 33

Still no reason just to average 34 in List A. In one dayers you have to be good enough to survive more overs and score runs.  He has not displayed it so far. At this age giving him endless chances to an unproven player in this  format at any level is futile exercise. He was not exactly an under-19 star. Not a domestic list A star.  So we are blindly backing him purely baesd on his T20 skill where the challenge is different.

Some fans seriously hv short memories.

They think SKY will do well at no 5 or 6. In reality, SKY is being tried at no.4 right now only becz he played his first 10 odi games batting at no 5 and sometimes at 6 and failed miserably even at that position.  (Averaging just 15...LMAO). He is not (and never will be) a finisher like Dhoni or Beven.
