Yes he and SKY have played 10  ODIs together. You can clearly say Iyer is head and shoudlers above him.

There is something clutch about him. May not produce those demoralizing knock against opposition. But he  absorbs pressure better. He has room for improvement. Then he can contribute down the order.

I don't recall Afridi getting him out even once as he has hardly faced afridi.  He failed against every other bowler in Pak line up in all those 5 games.  My point is very simple.  He fails against every half decent bowler in icc tournaments against top ranked teams.   And that trend won't change either.  He is already a buddha. Soon gonna be 33

I don't think he fails against everyone. Has he done well under pressure  then answer is no like many other Indian batsmen.

But IMO it will be very unfair to discard him so soon. He needs more matches.

This eerily reminds me of Rayudu episode. They backed him right till the end and dropped him right at the end knowing he is useless. THen they had DK, Vijay shankar. That mess was largely covered by Rohit's form on those batsmen friendly tracks. But exposed in the key match. This is going to repeat now. This time at home.

Dud was accommodated due to Dhongi, also he wasn't the only one in fact Kja was played probably even more often & somehow he was left out for DK, Pant & phuddu Chahaal for the SF :hysterical:

Here we are accommodating RGS & Kohli - at least two OTH MFers :hatsoff:

Selectors/Team management have ensured that India goes in with an unsettled line up. Even bowling is pathetic on flat pitches. Bald man shami, unpredictable siraj it is going to be a nightmare. There is no single dependable player in any department in the side.

Yes because they both are 32+ players and hence, don't deserved to be picked in the first place.

Important life lesson:

Never open a thread like a fangirl. It will comeback and get bumped and mocked at your intelligence. :Giggity:

Actually SKY's T20 performance in 2022 itself is above his stature in the IPL. He didn't have this kind of record in the IPL.  So everyone got carried away that this guy is cut out for internationals more than domestic matches. He has definitely worked on 360 degree shots something that you don't need a ODI or Test.Just proper defense against good balls, proper thrashing of loose balls is all you need most of the time.

ODI Matches Played:  23; Avg : 24.    This is the lowest batting avg by a specialist batsman in Indian cricket history (Considering batsman who hv played min 20 odis).    But there is nothing to worry.   He is surely gonna win us a WC in 360 degree (Rajnikant) style. If not this WC, maybe the next WC.
