Not a day to be Sky or a Sky fan on SM today

They were not ordinary ducks. They were golden ducks.  Ashton turner has company

Adelaide Strikers v Perth Scorchers, BBL, Adelaide: lbw b Laughlin

7.2 LBW! Two in three balls! This was 132kph, full and straight, he was caught on the crease, maybe thinking a slower ball was coming, he was hit on the knee roll infront of middle and it wasn't a tough decision. That was plumb.

16.2 96.6 kph, and they are only going to get louder! Is there a way back for India still? Turner shuffles across and looks to sweep him fine, not the best idea against a wicket-to-wicket bowler like Krunal, and he is cleaned up

16.3 duck on IPL debut! This, strangely enough, is a slow, tossed up legbreak, possibly because Ashwin thinks he can bait the big hitter into a false shot. And bait him he does. The equation makes Turner go for it. The turn on the ball makes the shot go to long-off when he is looking to go dead straight. Miller runs in and takes the catch and Royals are in a mess again

18.1 make that 0, 0, 0, 0. Bumrah's deadly inward angle and skiddiness does in another batsman. Turner's front leg moves half-forward and across the stumps, and he ends up playing around his front pad looking to work it into the leg side. The angle beats his inside edge, and it's the plumblest of lbw decisions thereafter

16.4 GONE AGAIN! Slower ball, outside off, and he was looking to get towards covers, but just popped it up towards Rutherford at cover. Third golden duck in a row! Somewhere, you just know Ajit Agarkar is watching and smiling

To be fair, SKY is not as bad a player as this series is making him look. His few innings in his ODI career show that he is still looking for runs right from the first ball. This means that there will be many times when he gets out early. At least the attitude is refreshing after having watched Dhoni tuktuk torture all these years. Dhoni tuktuk also resulted in losses but Dhoni managed to pad his stats during those games with useless unbeaten knocks that did nothing for the team cause.

Yup, he has the right mindset. He may not work out in the ODI format, but he is still a national treasure in T20. Without this guy, we would have lost to even Hong Kong in the Asia cup.

Yes, we might hv lost to HK without his contribution.  But a batsman rescuing us against associate teams (like HK) and failing against every reputed team in major tournaments (like endless flop shows against Pak in asia cup and T20WC, flop vs SL in asia cup KO game and then in T20WC SF game vs Eng) is labelled as 'National Treasure'?     Then what exactly is the definition of a Minnow Basher?

He is still our best T20 player. There is no question about that. He should stick to it.  Hopes of using his form in the ultra-short format didn't materialize. Let him focus on T20 format and get ready for next year's world T20. Everyone expected Harry Brook. What we got was Afridi.

I really hate to give up on his ODI career but his flaws are glaring.

nothing that can't be fixed. Just needs to be a little patient as there is lot of time.

2 off the 3 dismissals were against great deliveries which would take most out.

It extends further back. 15 innings.  We brought this up in NZ as well. Only time he clicked when the match was reduced to 25 overs.  Made 34*.

yes still a minor mental adjustment only. Rewards are great if he can do it,specially in absence of Pant

I initially backed him. But if you take a step back and see his style he is a high risk taker. Almost every ball he takes risks. I was even surprised how he pulled off in 2022. I have never seen him like that even in IPL. Even in IPL he never had such a crazy run. When you have a player who take high risks consistently,  inconsistency will slowly creep in as you lose form, mental clarity. My only concern is his age. He is like 32 now. You will slowly lose reflexes and you have make an adjustment to your game. I don't know if he can come up with a sustainable technique to play in the ODIs.

He should get back to his strength of placing the ball in gaps (Not worry about whether he is in an T20 game or ODIs).

In similar conditions, a Starc with a white ball in T20s is similar to a Starc with a white ball in ODIs.
