Forever Indian Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Plucked the Cup out of thin Air! Man, was a clutch catch… nevada and Suhaan 2
Number Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) It is amazing that his legacy will be that GOAT catch, despite his revolutionary T20 batting. Much like highlight of Kapil Paaji's career is that Viv Richards catch in 83 finals. Edited June 29, 2024 by Number Forever Indian, BacktoCricaddict and Tillu 1 2

Frustrated Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 Shoonya Yadav. 4th consecutive failure in this series. He has failed in 8 out of last 10 t20 matches.
cowboysfan Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 I think his mind is cluttered, captaincy sometimes is too much for players.even his utilization of our bowlers has been bad.some of the ways he has got out is very uncharacteristic. Gollum 1
cricketfan28 Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 Age catching up with national treasurer, ipl should help him comeback.

Texan Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 Its like all Indian captains. As soon as they become captains, they forget that they need to be a player too Frustrated, Ultimate_Game and Gollum 3

I don't think it's due to captaincy. If you carefully observe his cheap dismissals (be it in bilaterals or ICC events), he looks vulnerable whenever the team is under a bit of pressure due to loss of early wickets. He simply does not have the ability/temperament to consume a few balls and then build momentum later. In WT20 2024 Final, he was not the captain. He came in to bat with Ind at 16/2. It was a patta wicket. He played 10+ balls yet never looked settled. Got out after having played too many dot balls, leaving Ind in deep trouble (at 35/3). Most often, in imp matches, he needs a stable platform set by openers in order to play his natural game. If openers fail, he will also fail 9 out of 10 times. A highly overrated batter which is also the reason he made his intl t20 debut at the age of 32. Usually that is the age when a player should be retiring from t20 format. (It's not as if he was pursuing his post graduation till the age of 30. LOL) Gollum and rollingstoned 1 1
Gollum Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 That Miller catch has created enough goodwill to shield him for a few more games. Anyway personally nothing against the guy, I like SKY, even as a person he gives good vibes. Father Time comes for all and he anyway was never that good (may be an unpopular opinion), limited batsman despite the pyrotechnics and he isn't a good problem solver as @Frustrated said, either lacks in mentality department (his record in all big games even on pattas) or poor cricket IQ like the WC final showed. deepdynamo, rollingstoned, Frustrated and 1 other 1 3

Problem with SKY is that he never had a high ceiling. He's a specialist T20 player and even there his game is built on taking too many chances and doesn't have strong batting fundamentals. When your best scoring shot is the scoop and you look to play every other shot in the arc between fine leg and square leg, you're gonna be found out. Still remember him trying to play every delivery in the same direction going for scoop against slower deliveries of Aussie pacers in WC 23 final, and Aussie bowlers laughing at him when he inadvertently missed the shots time and again. He hasn't showed up in any meaningful match despite playing in 3 WT20 tourneys and is known only for that Miller catch. As a batter he's quite limited and has been found out. He hasn't played a standout innings in wt20 but last year played two good support knocks, 30 off 15 against aus and 47 against England in semis. He is overhyped but still is a good t20 player.
