Problem with SKY is that he never had a high ceiling. He's a specialist T20 player and even there his game is built on taking too many chances and doesn't have strong batting fundamentals. When your best scoring shot is the scoop and you look to play every other shot in the arc between fine leg and square leg, you're gonna be found out.

Still remember him trying to play every delivery in the same direction going for scoop against slower deliveries of Aussie pacers in WC 23 final, and Aussie bowlers laughing at him when he inadvertently missed the shots time and again. He hasn't showed up in any meaningful match despite playing in 3 WT20 tourneys and is known only for that Miller catch. As a batter he's quite limited and has been found out.

that goes for Rohit too then in T20s, has been playing for much longer and has not much to show in knockouts/must win games.

His range against pace has decreased in recent times.

It is to be expected at his age. He's almost 35.

He never should've played as the ODI #6 where he was a complete disaster.

But in T20's , this slight blip should be ignored for now

Think we can afford him in the current T20 setup which has a very good batting depth now. Just give him the free reign until the 2026 T20 WC..no reason to drop a guy after he wins these games as captain

I don't believe we should drop him but also, never give anybody a free reign. Even when you are winning there needs to be a post assessment and review of SKY's batting performance.

If you give a free reign then you end up creating more Kohlis and Rohit Sharmas who have zero accountability for their actions.

Agreed. His best T20 innings was the one he played against Aus in the recent WT20. And he played a half-decent innings in the SF against Eng. Other than these two, Rohit's whole career has been disappointing in T20s and good he's retired.

He hasn't played a standout innings in wt20 but last year played two good support knocks, 30 off 15 against aus and 47 against England in semis.

He is overhyped but still is a good t20 player.

He's way too overhyped for what he has delivered. 3 WT20s is not a small sample size. When you consistently fail in WT20s and show up in bilaterals across multiple tourneys, it shows you're not gonna win too many when you're required.

We are leading the series 3-1 despite Shunya Yadav's 5 consecutive flop shows.  This goes to show how much utility (or the lack of) this 35 yr old buddha has.    Better let him retire/drop him and make Pandya captain.

Pandu is injury prone though.

Yup, Pandya is a decent captaincy option and should replace SKY as the captain. We can't have a liability with the bat at 4 just like we've Kohli in Tests.

With batter like Sky who have no other skills t20i becomes a format where couple of bad innings it start to look like a waste of batter.

He  has been averaging 29 and 15 in last 2 years and with no other secondary skills he will start looking like a dead-weight on the team.

Plus his inability to play a noteworthy innings against a top/decent bowing unit it also some concern...

Ind need him to bat well he is still the only1 who can manipulate the field with some unconventional shot making.

He's a typical bully. Shows up against weaker bowling sides and you can rest assured he won't turn up against good bowling or in high stakes matches in tourneys. He doesn't deserve a spot in the team and should be kicked out with Pandya given the captaincy.

No need to drop him, this is the style of cricket one would like to see, sky is enabling it. He is not eating up deliveries himself to get to some decent score where he can say I am contributing, need this kind of mind-set, just that he needs to deliver against top bowling unit and high stakes matches.

Pandya still take time in get going and even with quickstart he fails to capitalize, pandaya too struggles against good bowling unit, its just that he can contribute with the ball.

Ind batting has failed in transition batters in this series, it was a good knock by dube today not wasting the time and tking on eng. fast bowlers.

The other issue is losing the steam in last 3 over Ind need some1 who is capable hitter and can it 4/6 batting with tail. From pandaya to bisnoi ind got only 1-six and 3-fours.

I would rather replace him with Parag or Ramandeep. Pandya has already shown he's a good captain and can win. We're wasting a spot with SKY. Next WT20 is in India and our best chance to win. Let's make the most of it.

Parag would replace sundar, and there will be pick and chose between reddy/dube/raman. They should get v.iyer in the mix.

Need to find some1 else for Jurel not a t20i material now, lacks power and field manipulations, not a good back-up keeper.
