Swimming and other aquatic events make up 1/3rd of overall olympics medals which is huge.

No rowing or equestrian events here ? Only goras clean up those medals at the Olympics.

After his eminence Kalmadi was done with that event it was a miracle we even managed to host it successfully.

Belgium, England and Germany do better against Aus because they can match their speed.

Aus are brutal against against slow teams. We are skillful but too slow for them.

Viren mentioned it too, why do we always have trouble with the Aussies but not the other traditional powerhouses? @Jay

My point is the facilities do exist.. but for us to venture inro other sports we are not using them and rather let them go into disrepair.

When was the last time we were beating Germany, Ned, Argentina, Spain, Belgium regularly and in Big tournaments..? one off wins against B teams in the Hockey league dont count

Tbf we have matched them at times. There was the 3 3 draw not too long ago. We beat them 2-1. They do flog us here and there and overall dominate the h2h. Not sure why tbh. We can pretty much beat any other team. Fast teams like Belgium etc. Against Australia we do choke alot. Conversely other top sides lik3 Netherlands, Germany etc always trouble Aussies. Belgium too.

Mental block? I don't know.

Then how do we match and even kick Belgium's ass? We beat Germany too. We beat England quite easily.

We often draw vs Netherlands. It's Aussies that dominate us.

Was it B team in the pro leagues? In tournaments it was very close last few times. In the Olympics it looked like we got robbed in the semis.

Exactly, that is why I said if we start spending now and are serious about this with a roadmap of say next 15-20 yrs we can do well in swimming, athletics and track and field even if you achieve 10 percent of total medals in these fields it will be huge and will help you to create a base for future to work upon

we usually look competitive against those teams even if not dominant. team looks scared shitless against Australia most times. i don't watch the other hockey tournaments though so not sure if that is the case even there.

even so, this silver medal does represent progress compared to 4 yrs ago. It's better to lose like this than lose a close game.

Ind did beat Germany in the bronze match, Eng in QF last Olympics (even this time was comfortably up before being 9 men and Eng troubled Aus in their semis).

Even looked good to beat Belgium despite some questionable officiating.

Australia somehow executes plans to exploit our weakness perfectly.

Athletics and track and field base has already been created. We are winning CWG medals and junior athletic stuff. In senior level, we are making it to finals if not winning medals (apart from Chopra). I see India being a solid 10 athletics medal with 2-3 golds by 2036/2040.

Swimming is far behind though. We are improving by making it to the finals this time in CWG. Hopefully for swimming in 20 years we are we are with athletics now.
