Yeah, and mourn the lakhs who died and don’t forget or forgive so it will never happen again

Yes but also we got the better end of it...  Other side got the worse of it.

ISI & jernails are bitter about it till this day.

They won't forget the pounding they got.

I look it as a religious war which we won & left a deep scar on their psyche

Everything comes down to religion for these nutjobs...  In 1965 Ayub Khan famously said Punch Hindus at the right moment & they won't recover.  And 65 Pakistan was called Tiger of Asia by West.

End result Pak Punjab got invaded & Sialkot dangerously was close to getting flattened out by Indian tanks.

We all know about 71.

More partitions on the way, may not go to completion next time but there definitely will be activity in that direction starting with Bengal, Assam. Maybe most of us will be alive to see that turmoil.

Once Hasina goes out of power...  Bengal could be next Kashmir in the making.

Hindus had incompetent leadership with Gandhi, Nehru and commie SCB. They had no idea about Islam, Sir Syed, Jinnah or Allama Iqbal. Never did poorvapaksh of Islam like Gokhale, Lala Lajpat or Tilak. We should have followed Aurobindo, Vivekanand and not Gandhi. All Hindu leaders were sidelined.. population exchange was the only final solution in case of a partition. Muslims cannot live with Hindus as one nation.

Some of what you are saying is unfortunately true.

Our family suffered directly. Lost everything but fortunately no family members.

According to our elders several villages away there were family of Sikhs and Hindus who took their daughters and threw them in village wells to escape rape and humiliation.

Our family escaped several months before partition, first settled in Mussorie and then in Delhi.

Every story you hear of atrocity told by Hindus and Sikhs is true. It was a pre-planned genocide going on the other side.

Never forget. All those who still want to play cricket with Pakistan are misguided assholes.

I don't think they will go to completion, but local civil strife/war is increasingly likely unless something drastic changes

Majama che! I will have to marry a Parsi to be called Jinnah.

That was the argument for 2-nation theory that Muslims cannot live with Hindus as one nation.

isn’t it? ML arm twisted Congress leaders who were self-appointed leaders for the transfer of power.

if Pakistan was created for Muslims, why didn’t all Muslims move to Pakistan or was it created for some Ashraf Muslims only?

Why did India agree for. Personal law for family, property inheritance etc for Muslims , if we are supposed to be a secular country? That gives a pretense of a separate country for some.

If we go by the problems in Mewat, Malda, or pick any area which has 25% Muslim population, they, in general,  resent being part of India.

If we don’t remember the partition horrors and take measures to not repeat the same mistakes, I am afraid we will see what @Gollum indicated below:

Its 2023 and we are landing on the moon en-route to another mission on mars on one hand.:cheer:

One the other hand we have fundamentalists  who are hooked on to "Marx's Opium of the masses" (And no; quoting Marx does not a leftist make).

A clash of civilizations albeit an unnecessary one.

The most fascinating thing about living in NCR for a while was understanding the history of those communities that were directly affected by the Partition - Sindhis and Punjabis from the direct descendants of those who suffered Partition. The horror stories I was told were truly shocking and it was the biggest refugee crisis in history before the war in Syria - something that is not told often enough.

An average Bangalorean like me simply cannot understand that.  When you uproot entire communities en masse, the loss of culture is palpable. An entire generation of Sindhis cannot speak/read Sindhi for instance.

I can't even imagine my life without the usage of Malayalam/Kannada.

Partition was inevitable and to a certain extent also necessary.

The biggest Blunder was that it was abominably handled by the Congress. Gandhi and Nehru were too Idealistic or rather naive to believe that Muslims in majority areas would live under a secular democracy and not ask for an Islamic state.

They should have negotiated with (rather than ignoring) the Muslim League while the demand for Pak was still in it's infancy.

ML had much less influence and bargaining power before they triggered those riots. They even might have settled for less had Congress agreed to the Partition early on.

There certainly would have been significantly lower bloodshed and we might have even convinced the Pakistani founders to Constitutionally safeguard the rights of Minorities in Pak like we did with the Indian constitution.

The second biggest Blunder we did was to allow the Madrassas to operate in India post 1950 when no such thing was allowed for the Hindus. All Indian Muslim kids should receive modern secular education like the Hindu kids do. If one has to study religion do it at your home.

South Asian Madrassas are no less than brainwashing centers to create dumb religious zealots. They are designed to make their students hate all Hindu culture and customs.

An AK47 weilding Afghan Talibani would be more respectful (or atleast less hateful) towards Hindu culture than your average South Asian madrassa educated person.

This hatred towards Hindus is what lead to the '2 Nation theory' and creation of Pakistan.

If not checked it will eventually lead to another partition. History will repeat itself.
