This closes the discussion pretty much.

As American journalist, author and anti-Islam activist Brigitte Gabriel so powerfully put it (at a forum on June 18, 2014, see YouTube), the peaceful majority are irrelevant in this context. When a determined few set out to execute a deadly agenda, the majority have not stood in their way.

Look at history, she says. ‘Most Germans were peaceful; the Nazis drew up an agenda and as a result 60 million people died, 14 million in concentration camps, 6 million of them Jews.

‘The peaceful majority were irrelevant. Look at Russia – most Russians were peaceful as well. Yet the Russians were able to kill 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. Look at China; most Chinese were peaceful as well. Yet the Chinese were able to kill 70 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. Look at Japan prior to World War II; most Japanese were peaceful too. Yet the Japanese were able to butcher their way across Asia, killing 12 million people – most were killed with bayonets and shovels. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.’

‘On September 11, 2001, we had 2.3 million Arabs living in the US; it took 19 radicals to bring America down to its knees: destroy the World Trade Centre, attack the Pentagon and kill almost 3,000 Americans that day. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.’

This is logical and valid. This shows the need for reconciliation.

Don’t know about that. People both Sikhs and Hindus were killed in 84 and then their was air India flight bombing by Khalistanis. Even the PM got killed. The biggest dilemma for any govt releasing a statement supporting khalistanis is giving more power to terrorists like binderwale. Sikhs didn’t like army stormed the golden temple and killed terrorists but how can they defend binderwale carrying guns in to golden temple ? I am sure everyone will oppose that. India did send the NSA to akshardam temple to flush out terrorists. There was no outrage whatsoever when this happened. How can reconciliation happen when the elected PM is killed ? Also what will be reconciliation ? Statement from GOI saying we are sorry terrorists got killed in blue star and riots aftermath of PM getting killed. Then GOI will have to issue apology statement for every riot that happened india. We all appreciate contributions of Sikhs in India and abroad to Indian society but need to condemn when there is bad behavior.

For what its worth, Manmohan Singh did apologize. But the concerns of Sikh community were valid since the supposed perpetrators weren't punished. This very unfortunate sort of thing happens in India, the latest was the release & garlanding of rapists/murderers.

The question that comes up, is that all there is to India for any community ? Remember a particular event and judge the present gen for the crimes of the past one, a fraction of them to be honest.

This wasn't even a one sided violence like the genocide of Native Americans or Jews, thousands of hindus were also killed. I really doubt the community will describe Bhindranwale as a militant, secessionist & bigot to their young ones. His posters/photos are put up on prominent places of worship and they openly declare him a martyr.

Hindus have always ready to reconcile- they know that the 1984 Delhi massacres were done by the CONGRESS PARTY and their paid goons not in the name of religion only because their madam was killed, who incidentally created Bhindrawala herself for the sake of petty politics. Plenty of hindu families saved and hid their sikh friends, mine included. So when chewtiya Under Score says that I hate sikhs.. he can do one literally. I dont need validation from a closet khalistani :finger:

NRI Sikhs worship this terrorist who's followers killed hundreds of Hindus in punjab ( in the name of sikh separatism)- yet Hindus in punjab have never retaliated because they KNOW that SIkhs are our brothers and part of Sanatan Dharm and the real enemy is Congress- i myself want to see Jagdish Tytler and Sajan kumar etc hung in the streets to get justice, but what about the justice for innocent Hindus got killed.. first you want to make a terrorist a saint and then say whoever killed Hindus were the Indian authorities dressed as Sikhs AND also demand justice for sikhs being killed.

Reconciliation means both sides accepting things have been done wrong and moving on but when ISI funded gurudwaras are spewing anti india and anti Hindu propaganda to their kids and by which even sikhs in India are getting brainwashed ( due to social media as this was never the case before), there is no chance for what they call ' reconciliation' till they are in bed with Islamic extremists.

Actually, Bhinderwale was pious Sikh. No doubt about it. But then, there was a massive politics among Sikhs who pumped him so much in name of religion and Punjab as holy land for Sikhs that Bhinderwale got declared as terrorists and then the very same Sikh leaders switched the side, probably they too werent fully buying idea of Killing Hindus for sake of religion. People need to do some reasearch. 1984 riots happened because prior to that, Sikh terrorists were gunning down Hindus in Punjab. Most Sikh were not into that ideology but were also unable to spek up against them terrorists.

Not irrelevant for government agencies, but irrelevant for how an NRI feels about a community.

The Surrey, BC mention reminded me of when we were there 4 yrs ago while visiting Seattle/Vancouver. Absolute best parathas and MdR/SdS at Aggarwal sweets. Unforgettable taste.

Here in ICF, you have to qualify what BC means. It sounds like profanity, if someone didn’t know you :laugh1: Some people might take umbrage

Man india so freaking hot as well even after summer. The people in cities are getting high electric bills to pay for the welfare schemes for the poor. Bjp govt stopped giving funds to phd students as well. People are being squeezed only the hardworking ones don’t know why someone will stay back in India or go back to India on top of reservations if you are hardworking middle class person. Don’t forget the rumor mill on India as well. Indian society is mean as well doesn’t take any kindness whatsoever it’s all transactional nowadays.
