Chakdephatte
Against Pakistan, he was forced to play slow. Was 16 off 25 at one point. Taking that into consideration, his s.r in 1st 10 overs is understandable. Which means in other matches, he started comfortably faster. Link to comment
Dil Dil India
10 hours ago, zen said: Criminally wasted balls against Zim (if he had got out by playing less than 10 balls, a different matter) Good knock against Pak (played with Ind having lost early wkts so a different set of circumstances). Never said it is a bad knock or he should not have scored runs there. Look it is one thing to say he wasn't fluent vs Zim (and he didn't have to be, it was a dead rubber). It is another to be disingenuous and say he only performed vs Asian Teams. He isn't back to his peak level of 2016 and will likely never be but he is our best bat by far and the only reason we are in the semis. If we had a line up of peak Gilchrists and Pollards instead of DK and Kela, sure you could nitpick but right now he is indispensable. And part of the reason why he plays that way is the dross that he has after him, clowns like DK who can't score 2 off 2. Link to comment

R!TTER
And for some reason he chokes miserably in ODI's (WC or KO chases) when he has way too much time to settle in! What T20 does or doesn't is you could argue not allow the batter to play forever in test mode, in his most recent failures in WC's he just got stuck like he does in tests sometimes - overeager to chase balls outside off & not looking for strike rotation. Bigg Brother
Kohli's approach is working coz he is able to close the game and credit should be given. He has been a finisher without being hailed as finisher in this format. And many time he has been forced to play with such approach, like against Pakistan and Australia in Wt20 2016,India were 3 down under 30 with both opener and no.4 going back for cheap,he has no choice but to tuck it around with single-doubles. Even in SA SF in Wt20 2014,both openers were out doing bhumipujan of ground. Our openers (Rohit-Dhawan-Rahane-KLR) in last 3 wt20(2014,2016,2021) have massively overburdened Kohli with their non performances. These 3 have been nothing stat-padders in Bilateral series.(Rohit being the biggest one) This approach if you can't praise, atleast doesn't warrant the criticism. I'm yet to see any innings of Smith-Root in this format where they have won it on their own after failure of their top 3 batsmen. Link to comment

He and Raina had to bail India out. cricketfan28 and Bigg Brother 2 Link to comment

If India had chased probably he would have adjusted. When they said 168 par they were happy with par forgetting the fact who they are up against. Link to comment
rageaddict
Kohli is nothing but a Superior version of Kane Williamson in the T20s, the only difference is that Kohli has the God tier ability to explode in the final 2-3 overs. So by the end of the innings , his knock looks much more respectable. Does he have the ability to play a knock which takes away the game in the first 6-10 overs itself ? A knock which Hales played today. Can India ever reach a score of 90-100 in first ten overs with Kohli at the crease ? Rohit and even KL has the potential to play a knock ( on their rare good days ) like Hales did today but Kohli can't do it . He just doesn't have the ability to start hitting after facing a few balls. Kohli can't even bat like how Liton Das batted against India in PP. These Typical innings by Kohli and Williamson have impact only when the team is chasing an average target. On a good batting pitch, batting first if a Kohli or Williamson bats for like 40-50 balls then the team is likely to end up with a below par score which is exactly what happened today. Even the big shots by Pandya in the end were not enough to help India reach a sufficient target. Raina, Yuvraj were much Superior, all Round batsmen in T20s who could hit big right from Ball 1. This Kohli needs atleast 25-30 balls just to warm up and get used to the batting conditions. Vijy 1 Link to comment
