No thank you.

The team needs someone who is tactically strong, can think strategically and install a long-term plan and convince authorities to stick with it, but can also build good rapport with the players and get them to do the needful without being an arse-wipe.  Too much to ask?

I know Greg Chappell's era was tainted due to x,y,z reasons and ego clashes. But that era, also helped us unearth many young fast bowlers.

Sreesanth, RP, Munaf all were found out in his era (Sreesanth was a sensation in that challenger trophy)......he tried his best with Venugopal Rao, JP Yadav but they flopped...however Irfan the batman, MSD the pinch hitter were promoted a lot during his tenure. It was his vision which gave us Suresh Raina, even Kaif had a great stint with the bat whenever he used to be promoted at no 3.

He was flexible with his plans, but to an extreme level which wasn't good. However as our current team is pretty much rigid, a bit of flexibility will do no harm.

... which is why BCCI should designate a group of 30 or so T20 specialists and let them play other leagues so they become all-condition performers, learn from multiple inputs and stay match-fit always.

They chicken out doing that because they think will lose the golden egg laying goose aka IPL brand value. Brand loyalty over nation’s.

The word "experience" is a curse in T20. That does more harm than help

I don’t think word is a curse .. the type of experience is the problem .. case in point hales , he’s played this brand of cricket across leagues.. selectors just pick players on popularity .

look at the selection committee :

Chetan Sharma , Sunil Joshi, Abey kuruvilla ( has been absent since feb) , harvinder singh , debasis mohanty..

These guys are known for a brand of cricket , I.e . Lackluster , safe , no ownership cricket ..

they were terrible cricketers as well , maybe Sunil joshi and Sharma can be excused .

but imho they have not qualification to pick a t20 squad which should be :

- bashful

- self confident

- strong / fit

- fearless

the concept of fearless gets connected to experience in India . Only if you are experienced you become fearless , to an extend I agree but , you cannot change players games and natural flare in format they just don’t fit . With this approach even piñata should pay t20

If there is someone with all those qualities minus the uncouth behavior and disrespect for all people, then yes.  There's probably a good reason he hasn't caught on as a prime coaching candidate - his people skills are abysmal.

Looking forward to WC'23 with Indian top 4 that reads - Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, and KL.

I don't see any other player breaking into top 4. Infact in all probability S Iyer who is same mould will be at 5 with Pandya at 6. The marketing tag will be that KL Rahul is the wicketkeeper batsman.

None of Gill, Sky, Shaw, will be anywhere close to the team. Pant may be in the squad as a backup keeper and that's about it.

Who is the first choice keeper?

You are being bitter now. KL is not a first keeper in any format. Checkout our last ODI we played in England. Sky is yet to break into ODI team. Pant is a shoo-in, backup will be Ishan/Samson or KL if need be.

Pant may be a shoo in based on keeping credentials but that's all theory as Indian team selection does not really happen on merit. If you don't agree, that's fine, not going to debate with you.

Do you want to bet that Pant is not going to be the first choice keeper for ODIs from here on? After the 100 in England, there is no other choice.
