How long before we realize our Test team needs a major revamp?

because there's no need. The current players are doing well Slowly they'll be phased out and replaced.

Kuldeep,Sundar have already played at the top level.

Sarfaraz will soon replace Iyer. Gill next in line too

pujara, kohli, rahane should have been replaced a while back though

We have somewhat similar issues in the Tests as well

1) Spinners who can't take wickets overseas

2) Very weak lower order which often leads to dramatic collapses in the backend.

3) Fast bowlers who don't take wickets in flat overseas conditions

4) Inconsistent openers

5) Lack of an all rounder in the middle

Pant is the only one who shows up once in a while. He is a maverick player. You can't expect him to turn up in every innings.

1) Spinners have done well in Aus. All spinners struggle in unfriendly conditions. Look at Yasir or Adil Rashid

2) Joke? We have Axar at 9 and Bumrah/Shami have also played important cameos

3)Even NZ struggled v Eng if thats what you are referring to

4) Agree somewhat though opening is tough in Tests overseas

5) Thakur-Jaddu are there. Sundar can do the job too if fit.

Rahane is gone. Pujara might not play for long too.

Kohli was always gonna be hard one. Might get a rope now too after decent tourney

Although I don't know who can bat at 3? Vihari has failed too. Maybe Gill

sundar if he is not injured. otherwise, it should be one of gill, jasiwal, or dhull - all of them have experience opening.

rahane will be back the moment he scores a useful 50 or 100. pujara is not out yet. and kohli will not be dropped before he turns 40.

Gill has his own technical issues. Jaiswal and Dhull too young. Not sure if they had a bumper Ranji season even.

Sundar looks more like no. 5.

they had big bumper seasons. not just in ranji but also next level. genuine talents must be fast tracked. not relying on rahanes, pujaras, and to a lesser degree kohli (post-2019).

Sundar has opened at both U19 and domestic levels.
