DK is supposed to be good against high pace lol Even Ashwin outbatted him comfortably.  Iyer was also ridiculed for not being able to handle bounce in OZ like our specialists guys did. Only Kohli handled well.  Pandya hit the air more than anything else until this match. At the end of the day in each match it was our batting against spin that let us down. Nobody to take them on. ONly guy we did well against was Nawaz.

Spinners economy is 7.16 against Indians

playing spin is a huge issue. going to become more prominent in tests too. didn't joe root take a 5/8 or something like that?

At least there was no dew, like you get in India, maybe that's why Rohit blamed the bowlers.Still you need close to 200 ,so we were 30 short and then if we bowled well there was a chance, with dew probably no chance.

You need wrist spinners to have a semblance of chance. You can't go with 2 finger spinners against a guy who is uber familiar with this ground and its dimensions. Without breaking any sweat he hit the ball at will. There was hardly any turn on the offer for finger spinners. He picked the pockets accurately like it is his backyard.  This Indian attack is good for swinging conditions. That's it.  ONly type of bowlers who could have made some impact is mystery spinners like Theekshana, Mujeebur or bowlers like Rashid khan.

Shouldn't they have realized on this pitch no total is safe after Litton das scoring 50 in 5 first 6 overs chasing a much bigger total.  But for that run out BD was going to beat us for sure.

50/50. He could either go for massive runs or could induce an edge as both are right handers. But they should have gambled. Again our "top order" needs cushion in the lower order. If Top order is confident of batting 20 overs why do you need a cushion in the form of Axar/Ashwin

it is not confident, it is timid

Wrist spinner if like Chahal make no difference. Guy was getting whacked in Asia Cup. This is Aus.

I completely feel for Arshdeep singh. Guy replaced Bumrah.  All of us made of fun of him after he dropped a catch. He bowled like a champion against two big teams. Took out  Babar, Rizwan, QDK, Russow for almost nothing. I am not sure even Bumrah could have run through like that. One match this guy went missing, He is getting the flak alongwith all the other inept guys like Ashwin/Axar/Shami

We needed a Mohammad Haris type of batsman, young and fearless ,to break the shackles ,he is the one who turned things around for Pak vs sa.

You need a wicket that can be sacrificed. This is why i am always against considering Axar/Ashwin as all rounders. They can't do this.  India botched by not having any floaters in the side. They stuck to their rigid batting line up. Having Kohli at 3 can sometimes be a disadvantage. He is immovable.

India made so many mistakes in the first round We got away. DK's drops, Ashwin's drops,  so many direct hit misses, overthrows, so many top order collapses. We didn't have remotely ideal bowlers for Australia. No hit the deck bowler, no wrist spin option., no batting depth. Despite all that we managed to get through by topping the table.  So they just needed to show up much better for 2 games as they got their bad games out of their way.

imagine how this lineup would play warne, murali when livingstone makes them cower

We kinda feared for this. It happened. Right handed spinners economy rate against India in this WT20 is 6.11 second worst  only Ireland is behind.  They don't have anyone who they can practice against. Collar chewer is not the type of spinner these guys are. These guys are flat and impart side spin. Not floaters. India atleast for that sake should have carried Bishnoi.

that's true. I hope bishnoi learns to bowl proper leg breaks over time. right now he is primarily a googly bowler.
