Why is Hooda getting hate now?

Hooda plays the same role as Iyer...spin bashers who can also hit a bit against pace. He is a good fielder, can chip in as your 6th bowler and be developed as a finisher if his role is defined.

If you want someone like SKY then Rahul Tripathi is the closest that we have on bench, Tripathi also has decent medium pace bowling ability which is not explored much.

Spot on, Selectors and coaches have to tell these players that they are looking out for them and they are being groomed for those roles and instruct them to work on  needs for those roles . But in reality what we are seeing is random players getting selected  in name of team building.

That is why you are seeing too many wks or too many top order players with same skill sets. These random selections are going on for too long.

Exactly. Instead of coaches, IPL coaches working on these players for specific roles they are just selecting players randomly and then dropping them randomly unless there is some exceptional performance. Indian cricket is a big circus at the moment.

Problem is with players also everyone wants to be top order batsman. Guy like Pandya who should have mastered that closing role has become an accumlator but is somehow rewarded by made into captain.

I belive ve when our spinner get bashed mercilessly that is the time we should try Hooda or tripathi kind of option motormouth pandua speaks a lot but haven't seen any innovative captaincy or even trying new bowling option. If he really want to challange his players as he says he had opportunities to try hood in place of one of spinners or Harshal and in second match he could have tried himself , tripathi or Hooda in place of Arshdeep. I think rather than talking like an idiot in post match he should implement it on field.

Currently this guy is trending on twitter. Thought this guy will improve as a lower order batsman. I don't think he has the game to be a finisher. Originally a stop gap arrangement. Pandya is trying to make him permanent in the name of 6th bowling option.  This is bias.  You would rather pick Chahar. He can finish better against pace.

Have always maintained that He isn't international material, Indian team's viewpoint on AR needs to change, someone who can bat a bit and roll his arm over isn't called AR. He doesn't fit in any category, can't rely on his batting, let's just not talk about pie chucking. Our own Farhan Beherdian. An ugly looking batsman as well with no technique and temperament.. An All-rounder needs to bowl minimum 60% Quota of his bowling in every match regardless of situation.. Hooda is at best  Dubai and Road safety league material, gets to play IPL only because he is Indian.. Sundar-Pandya-Hooda so many misfits in the Indian line up on the name of AR. This Indian T20 bunch is mediocre, infact Indian T20 team has been historically mediocre and unwatchable barring 2007 Wt20..

Next WT20 is in WestIndies. Typical slow and low pitches there.

Don't think Hooda and Triptahi bring any value in Windies.

Hate to say this but in such conditions Kohli is still our best bet.

Did I read it correctly? It's the complete opposite of what you described about Hooda, Tripathi, Kohli.

Great post.

Never seen him in the IPL and only limited capacity seen him in international cricket. He just is not a good player at all, not even something remotely anything good about him that you can hope and persevere with.

Given he rarely bowls, I would rather us get another batsman in the team like Shaw etc.

In fact Hooda gives ICF posters hope on here that they too could play for India, as talent is not a criteria.:hysterical:
