We have won the last 3 Test Series vs Australia in the last 6 years.  And 2 of them away.

We are expected to win.

This is exactly what a lot of posters said before the 1st test against England in early 2021 and we got hammered by Root and co.

We are missing Pant who has been our best Test batter in recent years and both Bumrah and Jadeja are coming back from injuries.

While Pant is a huge loss, Bumrah is not really an issue for the Test series, and Jaddu can easily be replaced by Axar.

What @express bowling said is true, India in India is expected to win.

AUS used to battle both the conditions and a formidable team when they would tour India earlier. It was simply too much for them to overcome, unsurprisingly.

But I feel AUS have gone a long way in overcoming the conditions over the last few tours of subcontinent. Their worthy performance last time in India and wins in Pak and SL underlines how far they have traveled as a team.

Again, hoping I am proved stupidly wrong but this Indian test team is there for the taking. AUS have lately got some tailwind with a cohesive unit and a string of success home and away.

Overcoming Indian conditions shouldn't be lauded as some sort of an incredible achievement, FFS they've been playing IPL for 15 editions now! In fact it is India who's always at a disadvantage because we don;t play in foreign leagues nor do we usually have good tour games aboard.

Plus we've seen crucial players miss out due to selections/injury lots of times, especially away from home!

Australia toh gaya if our players find form. Even though we are forced to carry baggage like coolie, ghujara and rohit.

If our bowling and tail are in form then we should still win 2-1

3-nil I doubt we'll get caught napping like last time against that one test wonder SoK, the slightly weird thing is Aussies still think they were in a position to win the series because of that hack :cantstop:

FFS he avg over 53 in the next 3 tests, bowling second two times - for comparison Jadeja avg just over 16

If KL hadn't played that ugly swipe on the second day there's a small chance we could've matched Oz first innings score at Pune & won even that one :whack2:

Yea lord is right. The dropsoff smith smh. More than Aussies I despise the poms. I hope we actually take them seriously when we play them away/home.

Yea we smashed them at home but we should easily won that away series instead of drawing. Chewtiya salah bazzball bs.

Also another team we really need to take seriously away from home is nz. We just never go there well prepped. I am 100% certain we can beat them there If we actually prepare like we do for bgt. There is lack of effort and coolie becomes very cosy and friendly with them. Same with rohita. That's when they thrive. They lull you into thinking they are this friendly nice group of lads. With kiwis you just need to rattle them with intensity a bit and they will fold. Look how Aussiez butcher them everywhere. We need to just be aggressive like how we play vs Oz and sometimes vs pommies.

The drops off Smith may have mattered more if we got close to their total in the first innings or overtook them, after KL's stupid shot we got shot out within 30-40 runs IIRC. Overall it was a bad game because we didn't bowl well in the first innings & didn't catch well in the second innings, the less we say about batting the better!

I will go with
Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Kohli

Iyer
Kishan
Jadeja/Axar
Ashwin
Kuldeep
Umesh
Siraj/Shami

--> As it's going to be a rank turner....the use of pacers is going to be limited. Hence only 2.

--> Umesh, Siraj, Shami all 3 are good with new ball and get reverse.

--> Umesh barges ahead of Shami and Siraj coz of his batting and fielding ability. Batting is much needed on turning tracks given the fact our top order is vulnerable against spin.

--> Jaddu, Ashwin, Kuldeep...all 3 bring 3 different varieties of spin in the picture.
--> I want to include Axar, but that means dropping of one pacer or comprimising on Iyer. Both can prove dangerous (in case the sole pacer gets injured midway, Iyer is the only bankable batsman against Lyon).
