He may not play as much as Parthiv to beat him for the worst Indian keeper ever. INitially i put that down to nerves. Seems like he is nervous every match. Wow! I didn't watch these matches much, but if that is true, then I wonder what made the selectors pick him as a specialist keeper? Surely, with so many keepers in the country with a better batting record, they could have picked one who can bat at least. Upendra Yadav appears to have a better record batting. The other one that we picked (Kishan) actually doesn't even keep in FC games these days. Link to comment
Frustrated
S iyer is unlikely to be a future star for india. He is not a pace bowler neither bowls part time, yet gets injured after playing just 1 or 2 games with zero contribution with the bat. He is probably made of glass. LOL. Right now the ind vs aus test is in progress and we are already a batsman short. LOL. (In the form of Iyer) Edited March 12 by Frustrated Link to comment

wanted_desi
Iyer is having back problems lately, I really don’t see him playing test cricket as it is hard on your body to be in field for longer period of time. He should focus on ODIs and T20s. He is much needed for WC this year. Link to comment
SRT100
Iyer with damaged lower back would be more useful than KL. vvvslaxman 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Not backing Sarfraz in this series was criminal. They even gave a chance to SKY. Link to comment
AKane
The teams for WTC will probably be something like this Rohit Sharma KL Rahul/S Gill (Gill may get a niggle) C Pujara V Kohli Ravindra Jadeja Axar Patel S Bharat R Ashwin U Yadav M Shami M Siraj vs U Khawaja D Warner (or another opener) M Labuschagne S Smith T Head Cameron Green wk M Starc P Cummins N Lyon L Morris/J Hazelwood Link to comment
AKane
WTC will definitely feature the spin trio of Ashwin, Axar and Jadeja and will come down to their performance at The Oval. Link to comment

Wickets wins Test matches. Axar's batting contribution cannot be used to pick him as a bowler. If he replaces someone that should be a batsman not bowler. Kuldeep should be given a go. He can be a game breaker. Link to comment

Aus is Starc, Cummins, Morris, Lyon + Green I think Lance Morris will play for express pace. Edited March 13 by AKane Link to comment

Otherwise Indian bowling can be neutralized. Link to comment
AKane
23 minutes ago, vvvslaxman said: Otherwise Indian bowling can be neutralized Kuldeep has no role in this team while the two pillars of Indian cricket are around in Ashwin and Jadeja. Axar plays as a batsman who can bowl. Can you imagine Dravid and Rohit and company playing Kuldeep instead of Ashwin, Jadeja or Axar? Kuldeep can replace Siraj if need be. Link to comment
putrevus
Axar's problem is pace bowling.I don't know if he is as good against fast bowling as he is against spin bowling. You cannot play him as batsman who can bowl. If Iyer is not fit, I would give Sarfraz a chance, India has been afraid to blood youngsters in big spots and that is one of main reasons why they have not won anything. They are more comfortable in giving guys like useless DK and Rahul chances than youngsters who have no burden of failures haunting them. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
It is hard for guys to pick Kuldeep at a pitch like Oval. Long straight boundaries Link to comment
vvvslaxman
If they pick the same squad i would rather have SKY over KL Rahul. SKY on true wickets can be tried. I still have question marks about his ability to construct innings in longer formats. But he plays better in SENA countries from what i see. Link to comment
AKane
Okay - let me be clear about this. I am not trying to specify team I want. Neither do I think about winning the match. I am just trying to predict the team the selectors and Dravid and Rohit will pick. That is all. Point is not to try and win but to understand the idealogy of Dravid and company and predict what they will do. If that results in a defeat so be it. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Another selection conundrum will be KS Bharat. DOwnright fugliest keeper we have fielded. Took it on the pad more than his hands. I gave benefit of doubt in the first 2 matches as he probably was not used to keeping for quality spin. But even on this road where the keeping is straight forward he is no good.
