He was trolled for not performing. No one is trolling him for his century. And it's not a rule that one has to mention other players while criticizing someone. Even if you want one, Smith averaged 24 in this series, maybe his worst, Kohli averaged the same for two years. Smith scored a double hundred last series, Kohli's last fifty came in January 2022. Pointless comparison.

 

If anything, there are more posts on Rahul-Pujara than Kohli, so he's not the only one.

That was just to provide some context really. How was I supposed to know that ICF's Steve Smith fan club would get so much khujli?

    That denied run, that extra ball because of the no-ball, and that superb delivery. On a length, on off, Smith has to defend, and he is conditioned to defending for the turn on this pitch. This one turns, but only slightly, which just means straightening in line in front of off. Smith is playing outside the line. He is bowled. Will he be thinking of the single he just turned down when Handscomb was calling him? Will he be thinking of the no-ball that resulted in the extra delivery? Batting is such a precarious occupation

Good length, fourth stump line, a nothing delivery, instead of playing with a vertical bat and the full face he tried to poke it square off the back foot with a slightly angled bat, it skidded on and took the inside edge, onto the back pad and onto leg stump.

He got out cheaply off a very harmless ball in the last test but just look down the list. Look. Ball pitches on a length and he gets eaten alive by the inconsistent turning pitch. you have to play down the line and hope it goes straight on or turns too much and takes the edge. He got unlucky, that happens. The pitch was literally designed exactly for jadeja to hoof it on on a length and a massive percent of balls to be completely unplayable. And Kunneman and Murphy had him on a string and thats a 2nd XI state bowler and a 22 year old. 

Can you imagine what Ashwin and Jadeja would do it him. Think about it or a few seconds. He would get a new hole to poop out of carved into him an over

His wicket in the 2nd Test 1st innings was a crucial one. Australia had gotten off to a good start in that Test and they needed Smith to do his thing and drain the Indian bowling. But when he got out for a duck, it handed the momentum over to India. Had he played a Smith-like knock then, the result of the series could well have been the other way around.

Since Kohli hit a 100 recently, it is difficult to perceive that he is not in form. While failures in difficult batting conditions are understandable, the inability to stitch together even one memorable inning off late raises questions on his current abilities as a top tier batsman. Let’s see if he can churn out an acceptable performance in challenging conditions!

Like the poster in this thread anov your post mentioned. Smith has only had one bad series. He still averages 50 plus this year. Kphli has been rendered useless for almost 3 years now and averages in the late 20s. Huge difference. Smith will be criticised according when his performance declines as much as coolie. One bad series doesn't define a player of smith's calibre. He has no real weaknesses in his game apart from the odd bouncer which can stun any great player. Coolie is horrendous vs spin and swing. He is a far inferior compared to Smith. Not even in the same stratosphere. Cannot compare a pujara level player like coolie to one of the best ever.
