Actually pandya is an all phase bowler now , so u can afford the 3rd seamer to be 2 or 1 phase bowler

The team balance hurts when we rely on Pandya as a bowler. That’s what happened in the last WT20 as the bowling team was not bowling as a team . He has to bowl regularly at least 5 overs in ODI or 3 in T20s as a bowler , not a part-timer.

Last Wc he didnt bowl and they knew what they were taking, 4 bowler and batsman didnt do the job so pandya bowling or not wudnt have made any difference

With all rounder injuries are far to often now sad we dont have bowling options like england- australia have for injury prone guys like stokes-marsh

Hardik was used as the 3rd pacer + 5th bowler earlier.

Won't work because of his fitness  + lack of consistency  (  earlier )

Now he is being used as the 4th pacer + 6th bowler.

This is perfect.  No real responsibility as a bowler but if it works then the returns can be great.

It's greatly helping matters that Hardik, the bowler, is much more mature now.

Absolutely right, where Hardik has now helped us is eliminating the need for 6th bowler.
This has coincided with an improvement in hardik the batter, playing with much more assurance than he previously used to.

I think this is what Hardik really is, a proper batter who can bowl 5-6 overs in ODI and 2-3 overs in T20's on most days. This gives our bowling less dependency on the main 5 bowlers, and if anyone has a bad day, Hardik is able to cover up for it successfully.

Hardik has been compared to Stokes in the past, now he's playing the exact role.

Doubt he can bowl in death.May have variation but to nail yorker regularly and stay calm in carnage is required in death.

I'd rather have another all phase pacer(Avesh/Arshdeep/Nattu) and use Pandya in specific situations.Specially considering fitness in mind.

Yeah if needed he can do the job obviously. But I won't take the main bowler as 2 phase bowler unless really dependable or can bat at 7-8(talking about pacers).

Pandya's main job with ball is to cover for whoever has bad day (and almost every game there's one)

yea no needed , anyways all bumrah, harshal, bhuvi do that job well so it wont come down to pandya

bhuvi+bumrah have covered all bases anyways so 3rd player shud be used to add more edge like Umran (but pandya is doing that job), Left armer - may be nattu or arshdeep or harshal who is a completely diff bowler or even thakur who ll be handy on some grounds

Those 2 and pandya have opened so many options for us

Was excited about Umran in Aus conditions but so far has not looked good.Long way to go.

I'll have Chahar at 7 definitely and one of Avesh/Arshdeep as 3rd bowler. No need of 2nd spinner in Aus.

too early to judge , he wud have done well in Australia. As far as inconsistency goes its the case with mostly bowlers at that pace
