Mukesh Kumar has 7 wickets from 9 matches .. Eco of 10.15.   Average of 39+.

But plays every game.

Why ?

What other options DC have - Sakaria and Nagarkoti.

They have invested big bucks on him, they have to give him games just incase he makes into Ind playing 11 then its all good investment for them.

Same reason Umesh got so many games, same reason Bhuvi is getting games they have better chance of making to Ind WC teams and IPL teams wants their player to represent intnl. sides.

And now that Bhuvi has a good showing he have a good chance of  making Ind comeback, if he has 1-2 more games where he is able to pick wkts upfront then he will be termed as all phase bowler by Ind TM and he will get back into the team.

Khaleel has everything going for him- Good height, Rhythmic run-up and action. Not sure why can not he work on his speeds and apply brains to take wkts.

He is among those Ind players who one sees and ask why was he selected.

Avesh was backed by Ind TM and rated v.highly and nt a single season down he looks mid-level player. Gambhir during Aisa cup commentary mentioned that looks like Ind Team has asked to cut down on pace as he was hardly touching 140s, same question should be asked to LSG TM if they are asking Avesh to cut on pace or if Avesh is not as fast as he was deemed or marketed to be.

Mukesh Kumar's selection into Ind team is total surprise, a set-up who talks about a 150 kmph bowler being raw and not ready as if they have many like him. Ind for the first time has a genuine express bowler but they think he is not ready.

On the other hand Mukesh Kumar's selection into test then ODIs and T20s is never contested, not sure if he is intl. quality nothing special abt him.

My personal theory is that Khaleel has been corrupted by IPL money and he has lost motivation to work hard, break his back and earn his India cap again.
He has taken an easy way out- ditch domestic cricket, focus on IPL ( t20) and earn loads of easy money. Also, he would have probably realized that he is an average bowler with no bowling intelligence. So, he must be focusing to milk IPL as along as he can.

Khaleel 2022 - 5.25 crore

Khaleel 2023 - 5.25 crore
Performance zilch.

Avesh Khan- Never rated him. Its not about pace also. Whether 135 or 140, you are never be safe with radarless bowler like Avesh. I am glad he has been found out even at IPL level. But for some reason bowlers like these are considered as main players for their franchise. Maybe because of lack of options in fast bowling.

Mukesh Kumar is the current golden trundler of Indian cricket. But he didn't have the fluke IPL success season  ( like Harshal or Avesh in previous IPLs) so he would probably not be considered as one for the future. But then there is no dearth of trundlers so someone else will spring up.

Khaleel is Munaf Patel v2.0 he always carry that "tired" attitude and just don't seem to progress after a certain level.

Bowlers like him will have all the skills, but they just don't have that extra set of motivation to push themselves beyond. Else, there is no reason why he don't play domestics but just miraculously becomes fit before the IPL.

I think he is content with what he has achieved. He is talented than Avesh but doesn't have work ethic like him. Credit to Avesh, he may be a crap bowler, but atleast he tries to put effort on every ball.

Sandeep Sharma IPL 2023

12 Games, 10 Wickets, 8.6 Economy

Exactly the kind of trundler I hate. ( Bhuvi brigade)
Ineffective, predictable and zero impact on game.

Always prefer bowlers who can win you matches on their day rather than just doing the minimum and keep playing match after match without making any impact on the game.

These guys rely on misjudgement from the batsmen rather than their own skills. Occasionally that happens. This is why these guys stay relevant. Especially with all the grounds available now, they manage to find these pitches that hold up.

Punjab Kings Bowling Review IPL 2023

Punjab had a disappointing bowling campaign. There were no standout bowler for them- either Indian or Overseas.
They also didn't have heart to try out an Indian Rookie . Gurnoor Brar just got one game while trundler Rishi Dhawan got 6 games in comparison

Arshdeep regressed this season after being standout in previous season.
14 Matches, 17 Wkts, 9.69 Eco

Sam Curran was a massive investment but turned out to be damp squib.
14 Matches, 10 Wkts, 10.22 Eco

Nathan Ellis was decent at best nut nothing special.
10 Matches, 13 Wickets, 8.92 Eco

Rabada was mostly in & out with no substantial impact. Played just 6 games.

Spinners were no better. Just steady without being spectacular. Couldn't take wickets in middle overs.
Rahul Chahar ( massive letdown)- 14 matches, 8 wickets
Harpreet Brar ( had one breakthrough game ) - 13 matches, 9 wickets
