Kohli is a a slow starter by current T20 standards, but he does not slow down for milestones. Bishnoi and Krunal were tight, and Kohli (and Faf) are not good players of spin

He went from 97 to 103 with a 6 to get his first ODI ton in years vs Bang in Dec last year, and 94 to 100 with a 6 to get that first ton in ages vs Afghanistan in T20. Doull is wrong, The idea that he would slow down for a meaningless IPL 50 makes no sense.

We know he is not a natural big hitter the change of pace of ball coming on to the bat from Wood to the two spinners would take some adjusting to for him to time the ball. Yes he should have maintained some kind of better momentum, but it was not for lack of trying, certainly not in pursuit of a cheap milestone

Whether Doull is right or wrong is not an issue (He could believe that Kohli has played spin for many years esp. on such a high-scoring pitch so there is a different reason). It is that the likes of Kohli & KL (esp. after their poor SR in the recent T20 SF. Let's us also not forget Rohit's timid performance in the game that counted the most) are finally being called out for their slow phases in relation to match situations (wickets in hand for e.g.) and conditions. ... Would like to see such slow phases called out more frequently  (whatever the reason for the slow phases including "the dog ate his favorite bat")!

Doull called out Babar as well during PSL. He is One who is calling out batters like these who score personal 70-80 in a T20 match but harms team's cause.

With these kind of personal scores teams needs v.v. strong finish (65+ runs) in last 5 over or the team ends up with par/just par/ sub par scores when the other batters in the end have to play v.v. high risk shots.

And if a batter has KL like partner on the other end during power play the other batter have to play high risk shot ball after ball as they know all the hitting and impetus has to come from their end. Ending up losing their wkt.

Ind team on other hand has a problem that they do not have any power hitter only T20I style batter they have is Sky. So these KL, Kolhi, Rohit kind of players per their liking and personal scores.

There are similar signs of same nature in Gill's approach as well. Thats why after 15 years of IPL ind does not have a proper t20 batter.

Absolutely right it is being called out, Bhogle on twitter too... Don't disagree with that .

But the reason why is important - if it is down to good bowling for instance, then credit due to the bowler. Faf was saying how the ball came off the pitch slowly making it struggle to time in that phase. Who knows.

Anyway it was wrong of Doull (and you !) to allude it to Kohli trying to get a personal milestone, call into question his mindset that is less palatable to me then technical issue vs spin which tbh given his fading reflexes Virat may not be able to fix. He isnt going to start sweeping or using his feet at the age of 35

whatever "fingers" are being pointed are only temporary, and will vanish once these players perform even once in int'l matches; these commentators are shallow, fickle, and easily swayed
