Not surprisingly as people can see that many domestic players do not quite measure up against top international and national talent. It can become difficult to put a high value on performances in domestics where these players play against each other. We have seen how the likes of Vihari's Ranji #s are flashed when at the international level he would look as if he has miles to go before he can sleep.

PS One weak domestic batsman or bowler can make a team lose in IPL. In Ranjis and other domestic, teams are full of such players.

That's why we have A tours. A tours are a much better indicator as to whether a player is InT quality or not for tests anyway.

Ipl can help spot these talents too yes.

IK - how lucky one can get... Gets big money from MI and have not delivered
Nothing in domestic.
Here is a Pant like for like replacement.

Why not Saha. Make him primary and move Bharath as second.

Bharat is a steaming pile of trash. Uoendra yadav should be in the team

Identifying new talent is a byproduct of IPL (IPL uses other tournaments including other T20 leagues and international cricket to identify talent as well). And that is the job of the selectors.

It can become comical if armchair selectors around the country watch IPL, acting as if they are selectors when they are not even accountable to a mohalla team, and come up with a million different combinations!

This is where A team tours are an indication and the basis on which the next India test players are picked. (Though unfortunately some tours had to be called off because of COVID over recent years)

Easwaran for instance has done consistently well for the A team captained them too. Is he injured? Can't think of any other reason he would not be there. We'll only know if he is good enough if given a shot, as we did with Vihari.

Easwaran should be in instead of Gaekwad as backup.

India is messed up with selections. No doubt about it. Lot of politics in play but yes performance in IPL and A tours plus ranji if applicable is looked upon favourably.

India is just too rigid with experie ce which is our downfall unfortunately.

Just realised that Rahane and KL are part of the squad.

Mota Rohit, Style Baaz Kohli, Fattu KL, Tuk Tuk Pujara, Pensioner Rahane. And then backup is Ishaan Kisaan and Sky who have no clue about the long format. Inspiring stuff from BCCI.

Australia can come drunk on matchday morning and will still crush us.

And here I was thinking Dhoni was a bad Test captain with terrible squad choice. My apologies to MSD for underestimating BCCI and it's mafia system.

Aniket and Prithviraj are net bowlers

Who the hell are these guys?

Aniket Choudhary is a tall left armer from Rajasthan, seasoned bowler. Had play few games for RCB as well.

Not 100% sure which Prithviraj it is... Prithviraj Yarra or someone else.

This match is not far away. Few Aussies are grinding in county already...

Michael Neser is in some form in County & is expected to slot in over unfit Hazelwood.

Marcus Harris is taking up runs in County but Warner is likely to be given one final shot in WTC (good for us)

Labu has also scored a ton.

Smith is relatively struggling.  But he loves Indian bowling so....

India is really up against it.   This is toughest test match ever since the Gabba miracle for us.

Such a huge tragedy that Bumrah (ik he is crap in ICC games)  is out & we don't have our biggest match winner in Pant absent.

I just hope they don't play Bharat...  A dodgy keeper with god awful technique.  Guy plays with his pads rather than bat. Another DK.

Kishan a slogger but if he comes off we may have a shot.  Also can shepherd the tail with his slogging.

A left hander is always a safe bet in pressure games

If Bharat is a dodgy keeper, is Kishan more competent?

Slogging in England will also be a bit different compared to slogging in India esp in IPL.

After the humiliation heaped on the Aussie quicks in Brisbane and then in India, they will look to hit back this test.

We will counter them with the Three Musketeers - Axar, Ashwin and Jadeja. The "Three" brought us to the dance and we have to dance with who brought us here.
