Don't want to compare the heinous crimes but it looks even scarier than Nirbhaya case. 150 mg semen found from Lady Doctor's body which indicates gang rape. This happened in Hospital which makes it more deplorable. Unimaginable cruelty.

1 ejaculate is 2-5 mg...

This is clearly a gang rape and murder. That Sanjay Roy is just one of the rapists.

How on earth this happens inside a hospital that belongs to a govt college?

Communist states never develop.

Govt college officials trying to bury the evidences says a lot about the WB police and law&order. Mamta should be ashamed.

Here's another sickening story this time with a child being gang raped and killed in Bihar. Absolute savages.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newindianexpress.com/amp/story/nation/2024/Aug/15/bihar-dalit-minor-gang-rape-six-people-booked-main-accused-absconding

Nothing has changed since the horrific Nirbhaya case over 10 years ago.

I can't think of any other country where such things happen this regularly.

Not to defend the bad state of affairs in India, but one severe case triggers a lot of out xxx out of their woodwork to belittle the whole country. Read about the cases in other countries, it’s bad for women all over the world. Your unsolicited expert opinion on India has no value other than bias.

I expected this defensiveness from you.

With attitudes like this India will never improve.

Would you let your sister or daughter walk alone during the daytime in a typical village in Bihar or UP?

I know you would not believe the r@pe stats, and will shout under-reporting etc.. but in  intentional homicide, where there's no under-reporting, India is only 45% as that of USA for example -

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

In R@pe as well, I suspect we are significantly better on per capita basis, reasons being

1. Less intoxication (alcohol, powder etc.) per capita. Less weapons per capita.

2. So much bad press that women and men both are self aware.

r@pe is bad enough but seeing r@pe plus torture/k!llings in some incidents makes them so much more heinous. I would not argue about the numbers here (low or high) because even 1 case is 1 too many.

It's these extremely violent gang rapes of women or even children that seem to be more common in India. Something needs to be done about it.

Yes I'm sure there are other comparable countries when it comes to rape stats. It's just that the horrific cases stand out more.

Still you can't deny that India has a big problem with perverts, I have seen it myself on my visits there. Women cannot move around freely like they can in other countries.

I mean reputation is down in the dumps... Upar se X is promoting all this stuff.

Idk why tourists even go to slum infested places of Delhi and Mumbai...

Hampi Kochi Shimla Manali are rated as one of the safest places for Female tourists in India.

Problem lies with Dehatism

With such self-loathing attitudes like these by Indian-origin guys like you, India is not respected outside India.  Go by data to begin with. There are worse countries.  It is already established.

It’s a strawman argument to ask if I would send my daughter/sister to Bihar? I would not do that in  Bronx/Harlem/Chicago downtown areas as well. If you are practical, you avoid certain areas that are prone for crime. It is not about India.

I agree that it is tough for women in general in India. I will be jittery if your girl takes Uber from the airport at 2 am alone, in Hyd ,  more so  than in NYC. A lesser degree, but that fear of bad happening is there everywhere.

You act as though there are no safe areas for women in India based on one or two severe rapes.
