Most talented Indian batsman since Tendulkar. Additionally has the drive/fitness of Kohli, and because of his struggles/childhood I am sure he is covered in mental department as well. Generational player and GOAT prospect, and pure athlete. India has never produced an ATG LHB.

Built like a featherweight boxer as well according to Atherton, strong lad but very light-footed @Lone Wolf

not sure of that unless you mean current Kohli

Can only make ODI side if Kohli is dropped. Nobody has the cajones to make that call.

Rohit, Kohli, Gill all can be sacrificed for this guy, he is a Viv level candidate. At the age of 22 he has an aura many ATGs never had after many years.

and a damn good close in catcher :aha:

Good to hear. Close in catching cost us a lot especially away tours in 2017-22.

Still can't find a place in Indian ODI XI, which got swept by Lankans :hysterical:

Gambhir ke chull machi thi seniors ko laane ki and those seniors were literally dragged out of their vacations to play in Lanka. They had no interest really. Otherwise with a bunch of motivated youngsters (Yashaswi, Rinku) we would have won the series and would have given them experience too.

Jaiswal's batting and Rinku's bowling alone would've been a huge upgrade over the seniors.

Criminal not to take him into Champions Trophy.

Protecting seniors at all costs BCCI

He is better than Top 3 of Rohit Gill Kohli right now as literally best Indian batter on show.

Has that hunger for runs along with sheer skill & talent.

Haven't seen him drop even 1 catch in slips & gully till date or even short leg.

Took some screamers in SA & that Root Reverse sweep in Rajkot... Pure reaction catch @Gollum

Fingers crossed he has the makings of a ATG Indian slip catcher.

Gill is part of the future and Rohit is captain.  Kohli is the only logical choice if someone were to make way for Jaiswal

It's a joke that this guy hasn't yet made his odi debut.

That's to protect seniors and the future "all format star" Gill. Once he plays ODIs, it would be apparent that he's way better than Rohit, Kohli and Gill, and that one of them needs to be dropped.

Selectors are taking the easier option of not giving him a chance so status quo is maintained and over the hill "seniors" continue to play. That's Indian cricket for you in nutshell :dontknow:

no, top 3 were set. It would have required Gill to bat at 3 and Kohli at 4. Was never gonna happen

A leftie upfront would have been handy. INdia could have shunted Gill down the order. SKY was a total waste of a resource.

Gill isnt part of the future. Trust me.

Guy is the modern day Carl hooper. looks good but isnt good.
And even if he is part of the future, we still squeeze in the best batsman in India for ODIs, no questions asked.

Rohit-Jaiswal-Gill-Kohli can be just fine as top 4.

Kohli is not going to make it until 2027. It's better to invest in someone else now.

There are no indications in the ODI format that Kohli isnt gonna make it, unless he wants to retire by then.

He'll be 39 by then and nowhere near his best.

Meaningless ODI's or T20? I'd rather him smash test records left right & center instead of getting injured in a useless bilateral or even the CT - he will debut sooner rather than later but he can't cement his place unless RGS/BRat retire as there's literally no room for the upcoming players with these two still playing!

Age is irrelevant. If he can score at 50 average with 90+ strike rate, he could be 70 for all i care.

How many batters have done that at that age and that too at number 3?
