Healthcare is affordable if people go to govt hospitals but the trust is not there. Private ones should have checks and balances for not overcharging that is what I meant by checks and balances. The first thing they should do is separate care givers and billing.

Middle class is one major setback in health away to go back to poverty level, just anecdotal cases of two I know. Got fundmes organized, but still average hospitals charge exorbitant prices for ICUs etc.

There are socialist welfare countries(canada, UK, scandinavian) which cover medical expenses but tax you at approx 50 pc don’t think it is possible in India as we very few percentage who pay income tax. The other I can think is how US controls Medicare expenses. The doctors can’t overcharge. They did something similar in telangana passed a GO to cap hospital fee per day during Covid but close family member who was charged high. We had to reach out to local MLA who helped us. Enforcing the caps are problem the hospitals are very bad at following rules too may be they should start fining them.

Take umbrage to being compared to a villager. They have ideals, this fellow is a dalla/pimp.

Worse than NiKu is UdTha. He had such a strong father who didn’t compromise on his ideology. This fellow is a spineless leech of a human being. I hope he loses his face in MH, got played by Pawar in a political suicide, is now simping for Congress of all parties!

Yes this guy is utter nincompoop shame on Balaji Saheb’s heir.

Yes, many die simply coz they can't afford surgery etc. Even if they manage, valuable time is lost in arranging money.

Maybe they can subsidise those who pay tax or are under the limit. Most poor won't have income tax liability anyway

BJP added 6.4% to its 2014 vote share, taking it to 37.4% — almost twice the Congress vote share of 19.5% which was 0.2% higher than 2014.

1 in 3 votes. 2 out of 3 opposed them and some of the stuff they are doing is, as if they have a mandate. IT raids on opposition and arresting others is not acceptable. It would be pretty bad if two play that game.

It is a two tier system, where private hospitals get away with murder. Like you said if people evade taxes not much can be done.

Poor people need to be helped one way or other. I have seen these so-called poor people work and they work harder than IAS officers.

I grew up going to govt. hospitals. The basics are there but they are not very clean. It is definitely better than nothing.

Mandate comes from number of seats in parliament . UPA ruled for 10 years without majority in parliament, but with support of other parties. This is how democracy works.

It’s a noble thought but that would mean govt has to pay that would mean someone has to pay for that. Won’t sustain in long term. US did something similar with Obama care but the insurance rates kept increasing after initial years.

I'm sure we have the money to be pumped into something important like this.

It's a matter of intent and execution.

Every Indian should have access to basic health care. That is their basic right. People need to understand how hard the Indians in the lower echelons are working. Giving them free health care is not asking for much as they deserve it.

Hate to break this to you all, but until Modi govt came in there was no universal coverage. Today everyone has access up to 5 lakh insurance. Not enough still but better than nothing. It has transformed the lives of many on verge of poverty line.

This number has to go up but the math is not clear.

So. Which is the perfect democracy ?

There is no such thing as perfect democracy. I think Indian democracy is pretty good.

Problem I am having is putting opposition leaders in jail. I know it is not Modi doing it but I would not rule out Amit Shah.

Kejriwala has something similar in Delhi. Anyway, it is step in right direction.
