I think it is the coach and captains prerogative to choose who they want...i remember we were very upset with Dhoni choosing slow pacers and spinners ( that he knew  , who were yes men to him) , though i preferred Shastri and Kohli way at looking at selection. I have seen other posts saying slowly the coach is bringing in tall fast bowlers (i am sure Morkel must be whispering into Gambhir s ear.

Gambhir top job requirements are win , win, i am sure like Dhoni or Kohli he will choose who he thinks will do the job for him ...

Think rana is being used as pressure point on Gambhir, may be by some PR.

Rana is a bowler who predominantly brings ball back into the right handers. he has shown improvement and added balls that leaves the right handers.

He has ingredients of a good bowler: tall, fast and hit the deck. He bowled well in 1st test in Aus,bowled decently in what ever Oids he played and have been bit expensive in t20s with 10 rpo but its same as who goes for 9 po,

What are the other options Ind have its not like he is taking up spot of some1 really miles a head of him, think he is better investment than Avesh, mukesh, etc.

Team management backing the only fit pacer currently who has bowled 145 kmph+ isn't a surprise. Wish him well on becoming our middle overs enforcer. Good on Gambhir and Agarkar for thinking. Gives me hope they will equally back Mayank and Umran once they are fully fit

What isn't a surprise is the usual Gambhir bashing brigade and Rohit-Kohli PR taking it all out on Gambhir. But like in the case of picking 5 spinners for CT, Gill as Test captain and batting heavy sides in England, this round will also go in favour of GG.

Gambhir is doing many things which are debatable and kind of off putting, but getting tall fast bowlers is the only thing ppl should not argue about.

Pradish was bowling garbage bowling sub 140 kmph and as soon as he lifted his pace ~145 kmph he was talking wkts in same test match.

Especially since the World Cup is going to be in South Africa where high release point bowlers find success.

Mukesh Kumar fans maybe.
Shastriji (in ODI's) and Dravid were favouring 120-130 kph trundlers.

This guy is the most trolled guy i think lol

Imagine taking out their frustration on a 23 yr old, who loves to bowl fast, is fiercely competitive and gives it his all.

Worst was to see Krishna Srikanth slamming Rana's selection and cling him Gambhir's yes man. As Selectors Chairman, the same Srikanth picked Manpreet Gony(CSK) for India team after one decent season despite not having lots of experience. Was a good decision then to give opportunities to a young pacers, same thing that Gambhir and Agarkar are trying to do

Srikkanth comments mostly casually. It is just like a couple of guys chatting . He has strong opinions about everything. His son disagrees with something. THey discuss. When you listen to him in Tamil you won't take anything he says seriously as it is more a conversation than some strong objection. He has been that way all his life. Reency bias has to be considered. He was tharshed around only other day when everyone was abusing him. THen he gets selected in both formats. H e was already part of Test series in England. Siraj is out. Prasidh is out. SO there will be questions.
