Harshit should sue BCCI..they want to keep him in becnch even till next auction period it seems..

Looks like there's some tussle going on between Gambhir and Rohit. Gambhir picks and backs Harshit, and Rohit doesn't select him in the playing XI as the captain. It can't be that Harshit is the only player to have been in the squad across multiple tours/series and yet to get a game when everyone else from Abhishek to Parag to Nitish has gotten a game.

Feel bad for Harshit as he deserves better. Probably cost him crores in IPL auction as well coz he would've been selected as Indian/intl capped player which would've raised his base price. Absolutely pathetic the way the youngster is treated. And then we say "we don't have fast bowlers". If this is the way you treat an emerging pacer, you deserve to get nothing but Avesh Khans and Prasidh Krishnas.

Will take all these stories of tussle with grain of salt, whats happening with rana is unfortunate. Firstly it was IPL retention thing which is very clear now.

Ind has only played 1 game since the retentions were declared, Think they would have thought that they will win the 1st two test or may be 1-1 by the 3rd test  and they bring in rana but they were 2-0 down and were looking at 3-0 whitewash (which eventually happened) they would not have wanted to bring an in-exp bowler to defend the series and took the safer decision to bet on exp. bowlers to win last test match.

Why they did nt sent him for Ind-A -- think the reason is  because they have already made their minds of who is going to bgt its either mukesh or pradish . its likely **Prasish. dayal sat out in both matches/selected for SA tour, mukesh and krishna played both matches, saini and khaleel played 1 match each.

rana would only go as cover if he goes

Harshit any day over experience of Siraj. There's more than meets the eye and bottom line is that non-cricketing reasons have kept Harshit from making the playing XI.

Solid debut for Harshit Rana.

3 for 48 in his first test innings. Not easy to do in Australia. Displayed good temperament.

Really good speeds on day two, 136 k to 144 k mostly.  Fastest of atleast 144.5 kph. Saw a few more at 142 k to 144 k.

Got zip and bounce off the deck.

Seamed the ball both ways. Happy to see that he is moving the ball away from RHB too this season.

Bowled with good accuracy today. Needs to cut down on his one boundary ball per over. His other 5 balls are ususlly good.

Bowled some nasty bumpers. Dismissed Lyon with one. Hit Starc on the head with another.

Good to see that he is already Captain Bumrah's go to bowler ahead of Senior Siraj. (  and Bumrah knows a thing or two about quick bowling )

I am 100% sure many (im)posters will get mirchi after seeing this post.

Rana is young ,well built which is must for a fast bowler and has good easy repeatable action , hence generates lively pace . Only thing he needs to work on is his fitness , doesn't look like a good athlete , needs to shed few kgs . Overall a bold pick ahead of many other competitors and can serve India for long.

If a young pacer is found who has pace and bounce and low bowling average for any format then he should be considered for that format.

A good temperament is needed too but that becomes clear only after getting chances at the top.

Harshit is fast, tall and bouncy, just 22 yrs and has low bowling averages in all 3 formats .. FC, List A and T20s.

And he came across as a quick learner as he displayed new skills every few months. He performed in the IPL final too, displaying good temperament. And he tries to use his head in the IPL. Does not just hurl the ball randomly.

Plus he had a FC batting average of 42 before test debut.

Too many pluses to ignore.

This aspect of learning quickly is what I like most about him.

IPL 2022 & 2023, he was just a new ball bowler...even in the 2023 Emerging Cup he was struggling to bowl at death, which came us to bite in the Final vs Pak.

Since then, he has worker hard on his accuracy and control. Was bowling slower ones, yorkers and mixing them with hard length deliveries in IPL 2024.

He had a slightly heavy frame but it seems he is working hard and has lost few extra kilos. Also looks like a character who needs some challenge to fire himself up.
