CNN don lemon did really a poor interview with Vivek. He is constantly interrupting him about NRA and gun rights for African Americans. If CNN is speaking against a repub candidate it is good for them.

Don lemon got fired...  He a month before with his argument with Vivek mocked Nikki Haley as well.  That created quite a backlash.  His ratings were dropping.  He has a history of disrespecting fellow hosts & guests.

Regarding 9/11 I don't know republicans agree with Vivek's stance either.  As I said he is bordering on creating conspiracy outta everything..  That may damage all the good stuff he is offering.

He clearly said the govt was not honest in sharing all the information. He clearly points to ministers in a particular oil rich nation if they knew it well before. I don’t think it is conspiracy it is more of knowing information before hand.

No...  He asked in his interview in The Atlantic about how many Federal agents & officers were in the Planes during 9/11..  Then in some random podacst that CNN played he was asked whether it was a inside job..  He didn't refute that.  That instantly landed him in trouble.

He had to backtrack from that statement on CNN. Also that he isn't a conspiracy peddler & this isn't his core issue.    Host got her gotcha moment.

Big night for him first GOP debate. He should do a deal with Donald for VP job.

He got some initial points s and cheers. But they attacked his inexperience. Christie called him ChatGPT. He has hardly spoken on Abortion or other issues. He was booed during climate debate. Bloody Nicky wants to hurt India and China on emissions. Wtf, USA emits more than any other country. Koopa mandookas.

Think he wants to cater to moderates. Abortion he was clear in an Iowa townhall he doesn’t support it.

Mixed bag debate for him...  Nikki cashed in on his Foreign policy inexperience.  Everyone except De Santis sorta ganged up on him.

Christie Chat GPT one liner was gold...  Vivek hopefully comes up with something against him in next debate.

Nobody came out as a clear winner though among top 4 or 5.

De Santis I expected to be totally wrecked but he came out intact somehow which is good enough atm.

The USA has become largely irrelevant to the political/ economic discourse in India.

Gone are the days when we were in awe and validation from the US meant something to India (her people and her rulers). Now the USA is just a source of entertainment. Personally, I find their politics and debates dull, but I can understand why people are entertained. Even as a permanent destination for the educated working class, the USA finds a lot less acceptance these. The mindless H1B rules are totally arrayed against Indians.

Perhaps in the 80s and 90s, the cream of the Indian white collar made it to the American shores. These days its the mediocre. The best choose to remain behind or travel only for STAs.

Seems like Ramaswamy won the debate by a country mile- dont think the other candidates will last the next couple of months.

If Trump is disqualified from running for any reason then Vivek will be the Rep candidate for the President but if not most probs they are preparing to be Trump's running mate as VP.

Are high profile Indian politicians abroad inherently right wing or is that the only path, whether by design or otherwise, they can rise and therefore come to our attention.

Data suggests exactly the opposite. Its only recent trend. Its also a function of upper social mobility that Indians have achieved for themselves.

Things is Ramaswamy has literally nothing to lose apart from his life which I genuinely believe is at risk. Not now but once the election is over and once he goes back to normal life. I wonder what makes him so confident in challenging the establishment. Its refreshing for sure, but I dont think you can win against these invisible power centres.

Other way around. Mostly they are democrats and progressive (aka left left liberals) VR is an exception to the rule. Common people from Des usually are vote democrat

Christie, Pence, Haley were interested in attacking VR as they are below him in polls and can sway his voters with reason. Others were trying to establish ground kept away. In terms of policies , Desantis and VR were mostly identical. He didn’t attack VR because he is way ahead in polls . If Trump is put away , we can probably see a Desantis-Ramaswamy ticket

Christie sounded desperate when he attacked even VR’s last name comparing him to Obama. VR basically killed his campaign

Yep exactly both De Santis & VR are on the same page when it comes to domestic policies,  Southern border,  Anti woke agenda.  It makes sense.

I think Vivek sorta owned Pence who was rattled more than anyone else.

I expected Nikki to tear VR apart on foreign policy & she did that showed her experience.  She is extremely vulnerable on other issues though.

Vivek didn't went after her as she was the only one who got under his skin.

He was unfazed by Chris Christie & did land a punch on him eventually.

If and only if he sorts out his foreign policy...  He could be contender for President imo.

Right now VP is what he is looking for.

Drudge Report says VR won the debate :giggle: They shouldn’t allow audience reaction in debates , it’s becoming like a street fight

Which Indian democrats have risen to the very top or cabinet? I’m not convinced a left leaning Indian can make it to the top in the US / UK.
