Hezbollah vows retaliation after exploding pagers kill nine and hurt almost 3,000

Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel after pagers used by its members exploded across Lebanon simultaneously, killing at least nine people and wounding almost 3,000 in a dramatic and unprecedented attack at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on the blasts, which came just hours after Israel announced it was broadening the aims of the war sparked by the Hamas attacks on 7 October to include its fight against Hezbollah along the border with Lebanon.

Lebanon’s health minister, Firass Abiad, said the blasts on Tuesday killed a 10-year-old girl, among others. “About 2,750 people were injured … more than 200 of them critically,” with injuries mostly reported to the face, hands and stomach, Abiad told a press conference.

The apparent sabotage attack followed months of targeted assassinations by Israel against senior Hezbollah leaders and came as US officials try to de-escalate tensions between the two sides and remain concerned that Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, could order a ground invasion of Lebanon. It threatens to derail efforts by the US to prevent Iran, which backs the Lebanese Shia militia, from retaliating against Israel for the July bombing in Tehran that killed the Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Curious on how Israel have done this if it is true? They must have distributed such pagers that can explode based on a particular  numbr being sent to it. Using Pagers/cell phones  as mini-bombs , definitely terrorists will get this tech soon.  :fear:

This is probably the biggest story of the year. Makes everyone worried about their phones. a pager battery would be smaller than a phone battery yet so much damage. Just saw some vids on twitter.

They would have had to infiltrate the supply chain somewhere.

Israel killed Haniyeh in Iran. They would have assets there. Considering that hesbollah is an iranian proxy, it's highly likely that those pagers came from Iran.

Serious questions about phones and other electronics from China now.

China, USA any country any entity. Suppose one gets an android update on his phone. Who knows what's in the update? Was thinking that just a phone battery may k!ll , an EV battery could eliminate everyone nearby n sitting inside

Apparently Israel hijacked the supply chain and implanted mini explosives in the Pagers. Normal lithium batteries are not capable of high intensity explosions.

If these things keep happening frequently, a day will come where people will lose trust in all the supply chain networks and start buying everything in physical stores.

Even lithium batteries are highly flammable. I think a power surge of some sort could be triggered in a phone to cause very bad burns, if not a small explosion.

Lithium batteries in Pagers are even smaller than what we see in mobile phones. At the most it will be go up in flames but not an explosion.

Reminds me of the TV bomb used by the Paritala Ravi faction against Suryanarayana Reddy in the Anantapur district in the 90s. You must have seen the movie Raktha Charithra about them. The Ravi faction used a TV and eliminated the whole family of Suryanarayana Reddy.

Somewhere I guess Indians association with Israel is also linked to them being more cerebral and clever academically and otherwise. With an enemy full of jazba and junoon. This we can relate to.

It is an academic connect and the tech they lead plus an admiration how a small country can be so powerful. It's a learning .

Our external enemy is jaahil, ganwar, phattu, leechad...who will run away log a scared dog with tail between legs during fight.

Main issue is with the internal ones, they are too much pampered for decades.
