bharathh
That said Cricket and Squash may be included in LA 2028. Strangely Lacrosse and Flag Football are also in contention. Sadly no Compound Archery. Given Olympics' fixation on the number of countries playing a sport, how does Flag Football and Lacrosse fit in? https://twitter.com/Olympics/status/1711422895220531421?s=20 Edited October 10 by bharathh

bharathh
Thought it would be interesting to track athletes who have qualified for the Olympics by creating a profile for each one so we can estimate how likely they are to win a medal. Starting with Neeraj Chopra Event Qualified Athletics, Javelin Throw Mens Qualification Method Direct Entry Olympics Gold (2020) World Championships Gold (2022), Silver (2023) Diamond League Asian Games Commonwealth Games Gold (2023), Silver(2022) Gold (2023 & 2018) Gold(2019) Highest world ranking 1 (achieved on 11 May 2023) Personal best(s) 89.94m (2022) Current Season best(s) 88.88m (2023) Recent Performances Oct 2023 - 88.88m in Asian Games (Gold) Medal Hopes: High, Potential Gold medalist Edited October 10 by bharathh randomGuy and Vijy 1

Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) vice-president Gagan Narang is a seasoned campaigner "Going back to a few weeks before the contingent flew to China, a first-of-its-kind ‘war room’ was set-up at the Karni Singh shooting range in Delhi. Creating a simulated match environment, the shooters’ breathing patterns, heart beat, mind/body reactions in pressure situations were monitored to better understand and chalk strategies to minimise their impact and optimise performance during actual competition"

We didn't see very good results in the individuals. The team events are very tough in the Olympics. They have to shine as individuals to have a chance! bharathh
While I agree that there should be parity in terms of money allocated .. it would be interesting to see how much was invested into things like cricket stadia - which Gujarat seems to have a lot of vs other states like Haryana and Punjab which do not. Also, a lot of the medal winners are supported by NGOs like the Olympic Gold Quest, and PSUs like Railways, Indian Army etc. and not by the state federations. So a bit misleading clearly intended to outrage and not inform.
