Get all-rounders. Travis head, Mitch Marsh, Maxwell. Three batting all-rounders

If you are going to argue about how Travis didn't take dozen 5fers and 15 centuries so he is not an all-rounder, you just don't understand cricket. Its a game of fine margins. Two economical overs in the middle can have impact. One fluke wicket can turn a match on its head. Just accept it or argue with a wall

Let Analytics settle that debate. Fluke is not what you need for wins. No allrounders.

the solution cannot be cricket based. in a final you are always liable to come up against an opponent that is prepapred to gamble. we have to be braver than everyone else. rohit did this admirably. at least one player at the crease must play that way all down the order. the problem was not him holing out, it was 10 others not prepared to

First kindly develop batting depth...without comprising on bowlers.

Batting depth should be till no 9, even no 8 won't work.

In 2007 T20 WC and 2011 ODI WC we had likes of Agarkar, Bhajji, Ashwin coming at no 9...all 3 of them were capable batters.

Secondly, just like bowlers are expected to bat..atleast 2 batters from top 6 should be capable of bowling 4-6 overs in a match. I dont agree with DK's comment here.

IF BCCI & selectors are serious , then they should start planning for 2027 from the 1st day post WC2023.

1. Next WC is in 2027 , Hence all 33-34 year olds  almost certainly cannot be contenders for a place .Do not play any of them in 50 overs match from this day .

2. Select new bunch of players so that new players in final 16 will have played at least 30 odd games before WC.

3. Since WC in SA, give priority to batters who play pace bowling well .

4. Play Shreyas in most of the SENA matches and come to conclusion if he can counter pacers without any weakness .

5. Make at least 2 main batters to bowl  -Gill & Tilak.

6. Find bowling all rounders so that we have batting depth till no.8.

7. Develop 5 pacers who can bowl 140+ with control & seam movement .

8. have a back up for Hardik.

9. New coaching set up.

More than anything remove the fear factor from players , encourage them to play aggressively irrespective of results for next 3-4 years .  If they have talent , doing the same thing again & again will make them fine tune their game and start succeeding . Do not want to see a scenario of 3 boundaries in 30 overs again in Wc game !. Better you go down attacking than this kind of game.

Australia did analytics which is why they picked all-rounders

You don't need analytics to know that batting allrounders are important.

They won 6 World Cups with similar combinations.

India has used quite a bit of analytics since Dravid joined

Much more so than under Kohli and Shastri.

Taking this approach forward would require planning for 2027 South Africa by doing a thorough analysis of what conditions offer there,  finding data on possible options in domestic and investing in them, starting now.

Lower expectations, WI is not friendly for us.

No. we have to make better team which has better skill to play on WI/SA /AUS or whatever place it is. India has resources to make similar kind of pitches of Eng or SA at home. Make it play it. BCCI has no planning.

PRIVATIZE BCCI with MINIMUM influent from Gov. Gov should only intervience when maulavi's want to play cricket. oterh than that privatize BCCI is the option.
