KL is 33 yo, in 2 years he will be 35. think by that time pressure will be alot on him if he does not perform each game. There are not many Test openers options available to Ind. Yes T20is and white-ball there are many but not much competition for test opener Vk1 1

ShoonyaSifar Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Shaw should take inspiration from Rohit and Sarfaraz. Rohit has been a mentor to him and Sarfaraz is a childhood friend. Let them be his closest advisors if he still has any ambition to play for India. At just 25, he has age on his side. Will need monstrous domestic seasons (which he is quite capable of) and a clear demonstration he's moved away from distractions and bad habits. Great domestic season -> IPL mini auction and good IPL season -> A team + county performances -> one more more good domestic season including Duleep and Irani trophies is his pathway to the national side over the next 15-18 months

Can easily have a new batsmen coming up who doesn't carry the same baggage as Shaw.

Frustrated Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) I hv come across many guys who look older than they really are. But Shaw is on a whole different level. He looks almost 30 yrs older than his real age. Surely, this can't be simply attributed to an indisciplined lifestyle. Causes could run much deeper. His fitness levels (even 5 yrs ago) were quite apalling. Edited October 30 by Frustrated
bsriharsha Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Easier to teach the likes of Abhishek Sharma to pick which balls to go after in red ball cricket than it is to revamp someone who looked so at sea overseas and is quite clearly broken In no way i'm saying that Abhishek Sharma should be the first choice opener in red ball cricket or anything but if Sehwag can pick and choose which balls to hit, so can Sharma tweaker 1

Look at his pics from 2013 when he was 14 and smashed a then school record score. Looked younger than 14 with a baby face. There is a pic from 2011 WC final of him with Arjun Tendulkar. Both look proper 10-11 year olds

Both look proper 10-11 year olds I think they are hinting at more serious things like drugs/hormone abuse. Which can also explain the mood swings and bad behaviour. Frustrated 1
