Chutiyachokli is simply not convincing blocking.

wants to play a 100 balls clearly, irrespective of how many runs he makes

Gill is flying under the radar. 32 tests at an average of 35 is a horrendous start to test career for someone considered very talented.

At this rate soon he would be at 50 tests and won't have much to show for. This is not what we expect from a no.3 batter. After Dravid and Pujara this version of Gill is a big downgrade. Can't trust him to bat time, play to situation or score big runs quick.  Ideally his average should be above 45 right now and growing towards 50.

If he gets dropped its on him. It is a fair call to drop him.

don't forget KL with 50-odd tests and <34 avg.

KL gets enough abuse here and no one wanted him in the team before this series. Gill on the other hand seems to walk in when fit.

I would rate KL higher than Gill in technique and range of shots. If only KL had better mental fitness... Wasted talent KL.

Being better in principle doesn't mean much if one cannot translate it to results. That avg of <34 is akin to Crawley, Bairstow, and Pope - none of whom are really good batters. It is not far removed from that of chetan chauhan, a very limited bat

Agree with you. Talent means nothing if it does not translate to performance and useful runs for the team. Both Gill and KLR have wasted potentially better careers.

Jadeja gets the most abuse and is a much limited batter compared to both Gill and KLR. Still manages to average more than both of them and score important hard runs. That is how much lacking KLR and Gill have been.

A case of nepotism & there by pucca  incompetency  of the entire management , that is this  Gill . Has already played  almost 1/3rd of 100 tests and still averaging 35. Needs to be dropped after this series big time .On the other hand , likes of Rinku Singh( both formats) , Sarfaraz Khan(tests) , Jaiswal( ODI) all were shown partiality  by the

management  by not selecting them     at the age of around 23. Instead  hacks &  mental midgets like rohit, rahul etc were persisted with .This is how they  never

allow the team to be at its   'very  best  '

Today Gill's dismissal was purely due to sledging. Can't believe they don't teach these things to youngsters.

What verbals went on between Shubman Gill and Steve Smith-Marnus Labuschagne just 10 seconds before his lunchtime dismissal

Gill is a useless wimp in tests.

Gill is probably playing for his Test future in the 2nd innings. If he fails, selectors will replace him with Sarfaraz, Jurel and other domestic performers. TBH this should've happened long ago.

he will score a flashy 40 and then play another few tests.

Another match another L for this guy.

Will be axed soon.

What a sad story of promise stardom and downfall.

He is like young rohit sharma has talent but poor shot selection.I think his off stump weakness will be exposed in England. He should bat at 6.

Okay high time we stop analyzing the dismissals.  Output should determine their future. Don't care how he gets out. WHy he gets out. There is absolutely no use analyzing this since these guys show no inclination to fix these issues. Bottomline they are wasteful investment. If you want permanent spot, make runs.  Don't care how you make. You just make runs and secure your spot.
