He needs 440 joltisque treatment to get into his senses(drop him for good atleast in tests), he's too much distracted

A more skilled Yuvi was dropped in 2001 for his irresponsible batting on few occasions in late 2000

Alas, that was a different time, today times have changed, accountability absent

Yuvi was far better than gill in tests. in fact, yuvi was better than 4-5 of our top 7 in this series.

Does not need to practice as guaranteed a spot in the team.

What a regressive environment Dravid and co have cultivated.

Prince Flasher only cares about flashiness. he knows that he will never ever be dropped.

Another good innings.

Need to back him :agree:

Will give him credit for this inning (though it looks like a much flatter pitch).  This was a much better inning compared the last one where he got to his hundred but there were 2 lucky survivals early on (1 was saved by umpire's call).

I guess we can stop with the "entitled," "superstar mentality," "selfish," "went to mall," "inaugurated showroom instead of being a good boy in his room," ..... and all other such negative judgments. During the 2nd test, there were reports that he practiced like a mad-man and it seems to have borne fruit. He has always fielded very well.

He has shown these flashes of ability from Day 1. Now, it may all be coming together.  It is great to see a batting order start to develop for the future with Jaiswal, Gill, Sarfaraz all looking good. We now need one more opener to be ready when Rohit hangs it up and a #4/#5. Maybe if Pant comes back at least as a batsman and Jurel can keep, he can fill that slot! Great times are on the way for Indian batting!

yep, hopefully pant can play as a pure batter, although his ability remains to be seen post-injury.

as for top order, both sai sudharsan and padikkal are worth keeping an eye on, especially the former. Also Pradosh Paul

Unlike Jaiswal Gill plays spin with hard hands and his defense is not tight as it requires soft hands and good footwork.

There are some issues still with Gill but he needs to understand he should not throw his wicket away with loose strokes.

His backfoot doesn't move and his frontfoot gets plonked just like an elephant does to crush things

Sideways triggered movement and late on getting the bat down in time results in him struggling against movement be it nipbackers or out seam movement

Jaiswal also does not have great foot work. back and across foot work has totally gone out of the game.

As long as he has balance he should be fine, his back lift and angled bat will always present a problem when there is sideways movement.

back foot play is going out of fashion. kane willy is one player who has that ability still, though he is a WTB (weak team bully) and HTB

Lazy elegance is one thing but Gills is ugly

He is actually terribly lazy, you must have seen his bat comes down too late after the ball has finished atleast it's 45-50%movement after pitching even against sub 135-140 bowlers for both kind of seam movements

This "few people claimed" prodigy must atleast correct his bat speed to earn some respect for overseas conditions
