tweaker

Good seam presentation and because he doesnt hit the deck hard unlike our frontline pacers he is able to obtain swing too. Floaty bowler who can be used in damp and swinging conditions .

Is he a no 6 batsman though...I think he is a no 7 and a 6th bowler currently

He batted well in Australia, scored a century and mostly had Bumrah, Siraj,Prasidh as batting partners.

Fair points...but I think Australian true pitches are better suited for him....it is early days and that's just my assessment..hopefully he proves me wrong

After the awful performance in previous test, Nitish Reddy has taken two top order wickets and scored a handy 30 in this test so far. One bowling innings and batting innings still left for him to improve on his performance.

He is playing a certain role. Relief to main bowlers. Giving confidence to top order. SHeer presence of these players make the top order bat without pressure.

After his century in Australia. Nitish is not in a good head-space as far as his batting is concerned. Failed in the IPL too.

His free-flowing batting style is gone and he seems too circumspect. Probably the result of too many suggestions to turn him into a top order batter.

Needs to bat freely and naturally. He has enough batting talent.

Just giving relief to bowlers is not his role. That role shoukd be of specilaist batsmen who bowl a small spell. He is a all rounder and selected to pick a wicket although there are no expectations that he needs to take as many wickets as specialists . Good that he picked two wickets rather than just bowl a spell without any rewards.

Nitish has improved his deck hitting ability as a pacer. This was needed as he was too floaty in Australia.

Now he looks OK to bowl 10 to 12 overs a day as a rest-giving pacer.

He can be a 135k pacer, he has the action and basics to do so.
Just need to bowl with more effort. That's where Bawa has an edge.

He could be rest bowler in non-bouncy conditions but he has lost the ability to bat freely...He should be little more aggressive in shot making, we cant have it as 4th seamer against someone like Jurel who can do much better job at #6.

Ability to play attacking shots  be against pace or spin  if it is there and has been demonstrated already , it just does not go away in a ziffy.

It is the team's needs or one's own mental state which may be affecting it for a short period.

I see TM instructions and  his own form & pressure as reasons.

Now he is playing under pressure - low confidence and pressure of a place in the team which is 1 test match failure away.
