Elephant kohli in the room

Recommended Posts

He needs to build on this knock, he has become more timid as failures have mounted. Anyone will lose confidence but hopefully he can get his mojo back in this series.

self inflicted wounds, he had all the time in world to work on his batting by playing Ranji but he has refused to do it.

Don’t understand his reasoning for not wanting to play FC cricket.

Kohli has always been decent against pace.

Even was good in the SA tours in 2022 and 2024.

Game against spin is shot.

Ideally play this, WTC, Eng series - win all of them by performing well. Retire from tests on a high in the WI home series.

ODIs see if he can make it to 2027.

This knock was played when match was already won . not much pressure. Tired bowling . Rahul and jaiswal 200 run partnership killed the Aussies .

Kohli didn’t have swinging ball , slow turn and tired fielders . His 100 is perhaps gonna cost us a future match as I dint think this showed me anything new.

If kohli does play well in pink ball match , maybe his decline has stalled a bit - I doubt it .

This match was one inspite of kohli getting out to a regular short pitch ball in first innings and Indu’s collapsing to 150 but saved by the greatest indian test player of all time , Sree Bumrah

Nitish Reddy started bashing the bowling. ONly after that he started attacking.

Some morons on here really amuse me. Oh match was already won, Reddy did scoring and what not.

Does it matter? he was lone man standing for decade plus, .

He knows he has let his team down. When someone does anything close to what he has done we will revisit their importance.

Agreed. He has made some calls which have lost him form as well as public goodwill.

His test performance has been very poor for the last 5 years averaging low 30s  and no one can coast on past laurels alone especially in a country with so many people vying for an India cap.

Not playing any first class cricket, suddenly pulling out at the last minute from the England test series yet reappearing to play every match in the IPL, taking breaks from domestic competitions while the board has been cancelling contracts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas for avoiding domestic cricket etc.

A a result of these, his contributions recently have become mostly in white ball games and especially in the 50 over world cup and he has added to the instability and jitteriness of the Indian batting over the last few years in tests,

I'm glad he has found some form at last and I hope he rediscovers his confidence in tests. he is still physically fit.  I dont rate the last innings that much as he was playing without any pressure and the Aussies were bowling their part timers for long periods but runs are runs,

Him and Rohit should just retire after this series.  There is no horses for courses policy for batsmen.  In the last 5 years in result-oriented matches at home his contribution is

15 tests 592 runs 23.68 avge .  He skipped 5 tests as well.  No one can survive that kind of performance

1 drawn test where he made 186 on a road

So in the next home test he will play and fail.

He isn’t lone man standing

talented cricketers abound in India.

s khan , r singh and many others including Sampson have been made to sit out for these seniors with 2-3 centuries in 5 years .

man of the match contenders were bumrah , jaiswal and rahul . Even reddy made an awesome 30 plus score. Pant was planning to thrash them dead on that pitch.

yes , I give credit to him for staying fit and making a decent 100 . But I remember pujara defiance against Aussies , pant knockout punch against Aussies , jurel against England , ashwin - jadeja amazing bat- ball contributions over last 5 years  or jaiswals sixes.  Not any of kohlis innings in tests.

Kohli upto 2019 was good . After that he is just blocking a spot . 3-0 loss against New Zealand was due to failure of kohli - sharma.  Age has caught on to ash - jaddu too. Only blind men can’t see these facts

Decade plus? He was ordinary before 2014. And he has been sucking balls since 2019. And even during that brief period at his peak from 2014-2019 he didn't win anything. It was Pant, Pujara and our bowlers who won the matches away.

The only things he did over the decade was go trophy-less.
