Even in the 2014 T20 WC SF vs SA he killed the chase once he arrived at the crease

He was unfazed with situations mostly

One of the clutchest players ever! Sort of anti-Kohli. He raised his game for big matches.

People go gaga over orange cap,  700 runs 800 runs. Who cares. These kind of crunch knocks will be remembered forever.   281, 75(gauti),97(gauti), 91(dhoni), 97 (pant), 89(pant) will remind us of what the significance is.

Yup. Gambhir's performances in 2007 WT20 and 2011 WC finals is the reason he's so admired. The guy showed up when it counted. That's the reason why India won 3 ICC tourneys in 2007-2013 as we had clutch players at the time. Likes of Kohli, Rohit, Jadeja have wasted the last decade, and that too when India had the best ever bowling lineup in its history.

Plus he can bowl. Amazing energy level on the field. Highly infectious. Seriously we have too many one-dimensional hacks these days.

a good portion of 2011 squad was multi-dim. Dhoni was a specialist bat and a keeper rolled into one; SRT, Sehwag, Yuvi, Raina all could bowl to varying degrees. Some of the bowlers could bat/hit to varying degrees (Ashwin, Zaheer, Bhajji).
