MAYANK YADAV .... EXPRESS and bouncy Indian pacer who is accurate too

The impression that I got from this article is that Mayank was worried about his body and lack of actual match practice for more than 5 months.

Hence he was not thinking about speed but about actually completing this series while bowling a good enough line and length.

This is a natural thing to do as he has not played much domestic cricket in his life even.

For reference, Bumrah in his comeback T20I series after 10 months vs Ireland in mid 2023, bowled about 5 kph slower than what he did in the ODI WC a couple of months later.

Yes, his 1st series in 4/5 months with no game time. but it looked like he too is toeing the line of "line and length".

There is difference between bowling 140+ kmph , 145+ kph and 150+kmph.

Not every1 can bowl 150+kmph not talking bowling 1/2 effort ball here or there. A proper 150+kmph bowler need some kind of madness.

Bumrah was coming of a back injury and surgery and the reduction in pace is  kind of expected and there is an interview where  Bumrah clearly said that after recovering he was worried that he should not lose the pace.

Mayank didnt had any major injury as far as i understood (can be wrong here, the details and reports are vague ) so there should not be and reduction of pace, but mentally he should be ready to bowl at those speed which got him in the team in the 1st place. Technically he is in ind side with just 45-50 balls he bowled in ipl. And this is true fr umran too, he to need to bowl at his top speeds what got him to ind team just after 1 season of ipl.

In last couple of years we have been seeing Ind bowler not bowling at the optimal pace to get better results fr themselves - Pradish is bowling way below 140+kmph where he needs to bowl more balls in 145+ kmph bracket to be more effective same thing for khaleel too.

Avesh and Mavi lost their pace in mid 20s when they should be in their prime. the list goes on

Mayank does not have the madness or love for pace to bowl as fast as he can all the time.

He gives the impression that  he wants to be a Bumrah, Steyn or Cummins and not Shoaib or Lee. Mayank may end up being a 137 k 153 k type pacer.

If you want pace madness then bring in Kartik Tyagi. He is obsessed about bowling express.

Steyn was kind of madman he had bad shoulder and elbow which is kind of end of career injuries for a fast bowler but he kept coming back and bowled at high pace.

He only had out-swing never ever tried to add any other skill, since the time of speedometer he is kind of unique pacer who can transition from 137 kmph to 150 kmph in same test match and be equally effective at all the speed ranges. And he too talked about trying to ball fastest he can when he was ever in doubt.

Bumrah and Cummins they are at goldilocks zone in many terms though Cummins never had white ball skills he only added that slower bouncer just 1/2 years back.

Tyagi- tbh never followed him or he does not play that often to watch, he is highly rated by some here but do not see that in any game I hv nt seen him playing that much-didnt watch that smat game where he was bowling 150+kmph. Thought last IPL should have been his break out season was coming off a good local t20 league and made sm waves with his speeds in smat but plays only 1 match and was not impressive there. As they say you need 1 ball to show that you are really fast and could take years to show that you are good bowler.

He had that one game should have bowled full tilt.

Right now do not see him making into Ind team in next 2/3 years unless something really changes v.fast like having the most wkt in 1 ipl season or something or bowls 155 kmph and wins games like mayank did there is no other way. No IPL team is interested in him he has been in 3/4 ipl teams so far and none wants to retain him and if they pick  him he is always on the bench and mostly play garbage games

if IPL team is not backing some1 its hard to get into ind team and its getting harder in domestic teams too. Need backing from IPL teams to get into ind team or domestic side if they are from top domestic boards.

What's the nature of injury?

Suddenly baithe baithe kaise injury ho gya.

I have a doubt that these injuries are happening due to lifting of excessive weights in the gym.

Irfan spoke about it that he did the same mistake in his younger days. Fitness experts focus more on weight lifting and power training.

He should train the way Shami did when he came back from injury a few years ago.

He's one of the few players I liked in  the lower order. He could bat and could actually hit. Plus a decent PP bowler. Unfortunately his fitness and motivation left a lot to be desired.

I don’t think its fitness as much as motivation. He simply seem satisfied with ipl money. No desire to play for India it looks like

So true. He's happy with the life he has - play domestic and IPL without working too hard. But talentwise he had the potential to play for India. His batting's much better than other potential all-rounders. Wish he could've been more serious about playing at intl level.

Any news on the nature of Mayank's injury ?

No reports yet and if he was injured why was he with Ind team and not in NCA or seeing some doctor/expert??

What was the nature of his previous injury ?? Still not sure somewhere its says back some say side-strain.

Side strain does not need 5/6 month off
