I wonder if anyone messed with their action.... don't know but would not be surprising. express bowling 1

Mayank's first injury - the stomach strain - was from bowling fast and I believe bowling express fast from the first ball. Even the much stronger Thommo did not do that. He took a couple of balls to warm up. Mayank's second injury happened after a changed action and runup. Now I am not sure the second injury is due to bowling express or because of the changed action. The variables in the equation have changed and changed a lot.

Fast bowling is hard work and most fast bowlers suffer from major injuries.IMO Indian cricket is ready to reap the benefits and want express fast bowlers but they don't want to deal with the injuries and growing pains of those fast bowlers. By chance if one good fast bowler emerges he is overworked to death. That's because our captains and coaches dont know how to handle quick bowlers. We all were waiting for Mayank for so desperately, coz he can clock 150 plus at a decent accuracy. If we had more 150kph bowlers...Mayank wouldn't have been rushed. No one knows where is Umran, whats Tyagi doing, Sen is sitting and laying ducks in PBKS.. Ashok Sharma has touched 150, no support from RR, despite their sham performance. express bowling 1

Do u think the support system is trying to think for India , give india a genuine fast bowler for few years. the decline in pace is a dangerous sign- he looked pedestrian , medium pace , seriously as good as Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan. if he is starting slowly and would pick up pace later , lets wait. But if its a Mavi story repeating- it is a disgrace. Signs that Mayank is showing are seriously indicating that fast bowling coaches are not doing their job well. express bowling 1
Chaos Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Gujjus @Laaloo dream one year went to venky prasads bowling speed. Only thing was venky was decent unlike gujju.

What you are saying is basic, fast bowlers warm up much before they bowl first ball.Even then some bowlers need more warm up deliveries and some are ready from ball one. I have no idea why he is getting injured, so I cannot comment on it.But he is just 22 so I urge patience and understanding towards a talent like him from all parties. That brings an interesting debate. Should international and IPL be where you regain from injury when you are not 100% His usp is pace. If he is trundling, should he be in the XI over others? He has already cost LSG two crucial matches. International and IPL shouldn't be where you recover from injury, they are not practice games. If he cannot bowl pace, lsg has more skillful bowlers who can trundle. He can recover in domestic or nets.

SandeepMotta Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Really hope he leaves LSG or atleast LSG gets rid of Zak. No fast bowler will ever develop under ZAK. express bowling 1

That is the call for respective TMs.But your point of using these matches to regain fitness is wrong. You are costing your team matches. Zak was injured during the tour of England in 2011 and Dhoni still went ahead called for RP singh who was fat that too on vacation and unfit as replacement. That genius RP singh used that tour to regain fitness to play 4th test. Here I feel Zaheer Khan played a role in making Mayank play before he regained fitness.I might be completely off and wrong on that point.Zak played many matches himself with half ass fitness only break down during the matches or remain half fit and going thru motions. I understand your point.Lack of express fast bowlers is a not valid reason for rushing him. It certainly is not his fault. He should not penalized for it and get discarded like many fast bowlers in past. That is where culture of creating solid support structure for fast bowlers needs to evolve. It needs to be more than lip service. Has Mcgrath helped any young fast bowlers since taking over MRF.Is he still with MRF?

And he's bowling in 130s. He's a trundler without any qualities at all. It's much better to use practice bowlers from counties instead. At least they're more skilful. tapandrun 1

Do not need many tricks if bowling at 150+kmph consistently just need to pitch the ball in good areas, frm his 1st 2 ipl matches he was v.v.accurate bowling at 150+ kmph and touching 155. Bowlers bowling at different pace brackets needs different skill-set, some one bowling 135 kmph would need more skills than some1 bowling 145+ kmph to some1 bowling 150+ kmph. Right now what he is bowling is not even club level Edited Wednesday at 06:54 PM by tapandrun Ultimate_Game 1
