Letting go of someone like Ayush Mhatre is definitely not a good look. He's a Mumbai player and when even someone like CSK can pick a youngster shows MI scouting is not having a great time. Most of the teams have unearthed and backed talents such as Arya, Suryavanshi, Raghuvanshi, Ayush Mahatre and MI don't have anyone close to these youngsters.

 

But when MI and Ambanis can buy any player from any team the way they did with Pandya from GT, they don't need to find and nurture youngsters. They'll simply arm-twist other franchises to land any player when they've become stars.
